Hey we had a book thread on the old board so I thought I'd start one again.

Right now I'm reading "Invisible Monsters" by Chuck Palahniuk definately kicking ass so far. I need some suggestions for some good books to read. I'm into mostly the dark nihilistic type of novels like Palahniuk writes.

But I will read just about anything....so what is everyone reading?

I love Janice Dickenson's book "Check Please!". laugh.gif That book is so funny. I just love that woman. For someone so fake ( plastic surgery all over ) she is so real.

And right now I'm on Jackie Collins' "Lovers & Players". It is so spicy and exciting cool.gif . I'll read anything she writes happy.gif .

The Osama Bin Ladin I know by Peter Bergen

Awesome and informative. Its comprised of testimonials from only those who have known Osama in person. It does a great job of sorting out truth from fiction and explains the history of middle east tenisons.

I just don't have the concentration span to read a book at the moment. It's that long since I read a book. The last two I actually bought were a biography of Bill Hicks a few months back and Blood And Gold by Anne Rice about 4 years back from the Airport.

Oh, I tell a lie! I've just read a book about Tibetan Mastiffs that I got from eBay. It's from China and it's mainly photos. lol.gif I've ordered another one about TMs but I stand no hope of reading it unless I lear Mandarin Chinese in the next week - thank god that's mainly photos too.

I'm just checking in. Haven't been on this site in awhile. I'm surprised that this site is very peacful now. I suppose that had to with Pheezy and Mets and others.

I just read The Zoo Story by Edward Albee. It not really a book, but a play. Very thought provoking and dramatic. I recently read Word of Honor by Nelson Demille. Fantastic and epic book.

So... just saying hey. Rock on! rockin.gif

I just finished The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd. It was ok, certainly made me think a bit about marriage and things.

I'm currently reading Superstition, it's about ghosts and the South and other cool shit. I can't think of the author's name at the moment.

I love her!! She's one crazy broad! tongue2.gif I love when she gets mad and says "holla back bitch" laugh.gif As soon as I'm done Jackie's book " Lovers & Players" ( talk about staying up late not wanting to sleep just to find out what scandal is coming next type of book. Jackie Collins is a master storyteller nod.gif ) I'll be getting Janice's other two.

Did you read "Check Please! A guide to dating, mating and extricating" Sherocker? A fabulous read! Very funny lol.gif . She writes about her dates, some from her supermodeling days, good and bad. She advises how to make a gettaway if a date is bad and she has some pretty stinging comebacks. She really knows how to insult the assholes allright happy.gif Man, I love Janice!!! hehe.gif She's so cool.

Commanding Voices of Blue & Gray...it is a collection of writings from officers on both sides of the Civil War.

In fiction, I am about to begin reading The Saboteurs by W.E.B. Griffin.

What war did you fight in? And, just curious, do you have flashbacks? And what do you think about the "gulf war syndrome". As an former soldier, do you believe in it? surrender.gif

I just about read everything I can get my hands on.... but at the moment (given it's vacation and I got everyone running around the house) just short stories....

And slowly but steadily making ym way through a Dostojevski book.... which is taking me like forever...
