I am with you.

I am just wondering what the promotion of TC was? Did people know about the album? The album topped billboard one year after its release; the promotion lied in its own hands.

You're right.

You want some good promotion SJN? Write a good album.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Live never was a 'media' band. I mean, even in the great throwing copper days, their videos don't rotate that much and the promotion wasn't that big. And, on the other hand, there are superb albums that have not sold anything... I think there are no rules for selling copies. Let's make some comparisons.

Collective Soul have reached 66 on The Billboard 200 with 'Youth' (2004). With 'Collective Soul' (1995) and 'Disciplined Breakdown' (1997), 23 and 16 respectively.

Bush have reached N°1 with 1996's 'Razorblade Suitcase' and 22 with 2001's 'Golden State'. 2005's 'Zen X Four' not even could enter the list.

Better Than Ezra's 'Deluxe' (1995) hit 35. 'Before The Robots' (2005), 84.

Goo Goo Dolls's 'A Boy Named Goo' (1995) hit 27. 'Let Love In' (2006) hit 9 (until now).

And I think We all know the Live's numbers...

Does this mean that Goo Goo Dolls have musically changed and evolved correctly? That the promotion was much better? That the fan base was bigger? Is 'Let Love In' a better album than 'A Boy Named Goo'?

The question is: is 'Songs From Black Mountain' so bad that can't get bigger sales? Obviously, the answer is no, by simple logic. If you don't buy an album, you'll never know how great or how awful it is. And, on the other hand, 10 years ago internet (and bittorrent and emule and so) wasn't such a big force. Many fans may have only download the album, and just that...

I think that 'SOBM' it's a great album, better by far than V and BOP together. But I also think that the time for Live being a band that sells 10 million copies have gone. We are lucky of being able to continue enjoying them. Many bands of the 90's directly disappeared a long time ago.

Long live for them... beyond sold copies!

Word of mouth is the biggest promotion for an album. A heck of a lot of people read professional reviews and customer reviews before buying something, or hear about it straight from one of their friends. If SFBM was universally praised, it definitely would be selling at a faster pace.

this is quite embarrasing

my best friend's favorite band is the Kottonmouth Kings, and I'm always bustin' his balls about it. And they are selling more albums with their new album than Live is....a big WTF!

Hi WaiterAtCliftons! I think you'll love Buenos Aires.
There is a lot of places to go and things to do, day at night. For bars and restaurants, I'd specially recommend San Telmo area, Palermo zone (there are 4 o 5 bars and restos on each block in some areas, is really great), Barrio Norte and the downtown, known as Microcentro.
Here are some good links for you to check:

www.wipe.com.ar (great mini magazine guide with places, events and more)
www.guiaoleo.com.ar (restaurant guide)
www.adondevamos.com (events and places)
www.bairesnopara.com (idem)
www.vidalbuzzi.com.ar (great restaurant guide)
www.vuenosairez.com (cool guide)
www.bsasinsomnio.com.ar (night at buenos aires)
www.i.gov.ar (another guide)
www.11y11.com (night guide, places and more)

I hope that you find these links useful.
Enjoy your visit!

Greetings.

Hey thanks a lot. I've been looking for some good sites. I've come across a couple but nothing to do really with any of the night life or dinning.

Thanks again thumbsup.gif

good point. my friends know i'm a big live fan and when they ask me about SFBM, all i can really say is that it has grown on me. it is not an album that i can tell them they just HAVE to hear, unless of course they are as big of a live fan. i have found most casual rock fans don't like SFBM at all. hell, i can't even get my friends that like pop that into this album. WTF

For what it's worth SFBM is doing very well in South Africa according to the online shops. Kalahari.net #7 overall
Musica Online #4 in Pop/Rock genre
Look and Listen #2 overall

It's been in the top 10 top selling albums at most of the online shops since it's release in April.

Not too bad me thinks. thumbsup.gif

I don't even let my friends listen to SFBM. They might slap me or kick me in the groin. Lol, who knows? I do know that SFBM isn't a good album. My friend is really into TDTH since I gave it her for her birthday. so... rockin.gif

lol.gif IMO you really have to be into live and give SFBM a few listens to grow on you.
