Ha, Pablo Honey is by far their weakest album. Radiohead are my favourite band. OK Computer is my favourite album. Thom Yorke is in my top 5 vocalists.. I don't really think Muse have that much in common with them though... influenced, sure, but I don't think they're ripping off Radiohead.

Btw, Pablo Honey came out in 1993, and some of the songs had been previously released as demos up to several years prior. Grace was 1994...

The Bends (95) was definitely influenced by Buckley though, in fact Fake Plastic Trees was recorded after Thom saw JB live.

I got it from one of the torrent sites, but you'll have to download something like BitTorrent too.

Yeah I tried searching for it on BitTorrent but I couldn't find it. Do you remember which torrent site you got it from? If you can help, I'd be really greatful.

Funny you should mention Radiohead - I cannot STAND them at all! Pablo Honey was okay, but I think that was only because it had more than a touch of Jeff Buckley influence. I think the comparison Muse have always been lumped with actually put me off getting into them for so long. Muse seem to have far more grunt than Radiohead and Matt's voice doesn't make me feel like lying on a train track and waiting to be decapitated like Thom Yorke's does.

Agreed with Alex -- Pablo Honey is their weakest album, although there are a handful of real gems on that album, too.

Excellent taste in music, Alex -- Radiohead and Jeff Buckley are two of my favorite artists of all time, hands down.

When I mention the similarity between Radiohead and Muse, I am mostly gearing that comparison to the voices of Matt and Thom. Now, I am a HUGE, HUGE Radiohead fan -- have been for a good 10 years -- and still, the first time I heard Muse, I thought it was some new Radiohead that I had yet to hear. Even now, every time I put on Absolution I am still astounded by now much Matt's voice sounds like Thom's. I mean, their voices are nearly identical clones of each other, unless I have some sort of hearing deficiency and you are hearing something different than I am.

Cheers! Grace is probably my favourite album ever after OKC...

And yeah, their voices are definitely similar, but since its been about 5 years since I first heard Muse Matt doesn't remind me so much of Thom anymore. Though Matt is a fantastic singer I definitely prefer Thom- he is, IMO, a more versatile vocalist and his singing evokes a lot more emotion in me than Matts does. Whats your fav radiohead album?

Yep, I would certainly put it in my top 5. Some of the most beautiful moments in the history of recorded music is right there, on that disc.

Wow, that's hard to say. For a long while it was The Bends, then I rediscovered OK Computer and that was my favorite, and when Kid A was first released I thought it would be my favorite forever. However, now that all the albums have had a chance to sit for a few years, I would rank them like this:

1. The Bends
2. OK Computer
3. Kid A
4. Hail to the Thief
5. Pablo Honey
6. Amnesiac

That's not including some of their amazing EP's, of course.

What about yours?

Nice.. mine would go..

1. OK Computer
2. The Bends
3. Kid A
4. Hail to the Thief
5. Amnesiac/Pablo Honey

I remember downloading Kid A when it leaked, it completely blew my mind away... I was around 12 years old. I can't wait for their new album. Have you heard The Eraser?

I just bought a ticket to see Muse at the Concourse in San Francisco on July 18th.

Over the past few months I've finally allowed myself to get over the fact that they are a clone of Radiohead and enjoy the music for what it is.

Anyone know where I can dl the new album?

They are compared to Radiohead like Live is compared to U2 all the time, but it's all a bunch of crap. I don't even like Radiohead. The new album was leaked in mono, so I would just wait to get it when it comes out in stores on July 11th if you want to hear it in all its glory. Have fun at the gig and let us know how it went!

It might have been The Bends I'm thinking of if that's the one Fake Plastic Trees was on. It was more than a decade ago and with not being into Radiohead - you know, the mind plays tricks.

As for Jeff Buckley... well, what can one say? Grace is one of my all time favourite albums - Jeff one of the best vocalists. I'll never believe there's a god when someone like Jeff died in such a stupid, arbitrary way and Scott Stapp is still breathing good air.

Hmm, maybe the more I listen to Muse the more I'll separate them from Radiohead, but at this point I'm still having a hard time believing that Matt is not a clone of Thom Yorke, vocally. We'll see how their live show stacks up, I know that Radiohead is one of the top 3 live acts I have ever seen (and I have seen a ton).

In terms of the leak, I finally found a copy to download online (of course, I will be buying the album when it is officially released, I always do). My copy is definitely not mono, so maybe there was an additional leak. shrug.gif

I'm really digging the songs "Starlight" and "Soldier's Poem" right now; the latter has a very R.E.M.-ish "Everybody Hurts" beat to it.

Nope, haven't heard The Eraser yet, I'm going to try to hold out until July 11th to buy the official release.

I'll be seeing RH in San Diego in exactly 6 days, it's going to be awesome to hear some of their new tracks live! rockin.gif
