QUOTE(JKOH @ Feb 23 2026, 1:15 pm) *

From Chris Shin interview in 2022
Rolling Stone interview

Man, they really are a toxic bunch. Accusing Ed of shit, they are doing themselves.
QUOTE
Are there other times you felt like, for them, it was only about the money?
Shinn: That show I told you about was a big one. I think working on new material, they had no interest in that. Being honest, Live was about the most un-musical band I’d ever been in. I don’t mean that they sucked. I mean that in the very beginning we made these songs, but it was very haphazard. They wanted that record done immediately. They pushed and pushed and pushed. “We need to get this done.” They were on my ass: “Finish the lyrics, finish this, finish that.” They needed the money.

LOL, now imagine what Ed had to deal with. He had to carry that shit.

I bet being the hired gun he was given a lot of pressure that wouldn't've been heaped on Kowalczyk since he was there from the beginning.

Maybe late to my own post, but I suppose it’s relevant to explain to those who don’t know that a cease-and-desist letter is not a court order. It is simply a formal request to stop doing something that is perceived as illegal or as a violation of a contract. But it is often a warning that a lawsuit is coming.

In this case, Ed is under no legal obligation to respond to, or abide by, Chad T.'s letter ... at least not yet.

Not questioning the accuracy of this, just an observation - this sounds like a backtrack, saying something wasn't a big deal, after taking a strong action that didn't work out.

No, it was just a reaction to posts I've seen here and other places by a few people who sounded surprised that Ed kept on keeping on after the letter was sent. I thought it was relevant for those who might not know that the letter wasn't some kind of decree from a judge.

i doubt there would be much ambiguity on the language in the deal. If Ed's team didn't back down it makes the whole cnd letter seem frivolous. We never get to see the details of any resolution of the legal disputes over the years. Every lawsuit has functioned as a promotional tool at this point. Landed them in newspapers and rolling stone.

Would something stop real 3/4 of Live with Shinn as singer be able to tour as Live or even release new music as Live?

(Not close to happen but in theory?)

Yes, Ed would. Ed owns the Live name. The others can form another band, but can't release material or tour under the Live name.

So it is 100% Ed’s fault and no one else to blame that we never get New City, Change, Don’t wait etc officially released and we just see a remake of Distance to here framing it as ”Deluxe” instead of sonething worth to buy?

Didn't they all auction off the rights to the Live catalogue some years back?

100% agree with you.
The fact the Chads are talking again is just because their joint animosity against Ed, because they really thought he would let them in again with their drama.
Remember when Chad G was trying Ed to take him back? Recording YouTube video's showing he's still a good drummer? Brown-nosing him and praising him. Even throwing Chad T under the bus, saying Ed wrote everything and Taylor had nothing to do with it? I remember.
The "fans" joining the Ed-hate-train online is equally disgusting. It's like a cult. They can't see through the gaslighting and manipulation.
Gracey is terrible, attacks his own fans for cutting through his BS. I remember one IG-live session, he started trashing Ed again and i called him out. Boy, the vitriol, the namecalling, the slurs, the MAGA-talking points. Never meet your heroes they say....immediately he invited his partner in douche, Bill Hynes to the stream. Boy then it REALLY escalated.
Attacking your own fans bro. That's something else.
Well Taylor got in again with Shinn, after all the shit HE went through. Wonder the slimey shit he did to get him to play with him again.

This happened to me one time with CG and BH. Those two are so predictable it was a riot, but also came off as super obsessive/cult-like. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had this experience
