As promised, here is my version of a 25th Anniversary Edition for 'The Distance to Here'.

This has been in the works for a while now and was really fun to work on (especially remastering the artwork).

Based on what was released for MJ and TC, I think this is pretty close to what we could have gotten from an official release (sans any unearthed properly mastered outtakes). The flow of the bonus tracks is fantastic IMO. Fun fact! The Radioactive CD-R that FreakyDee sourced for this lossless version of 'Deeper' was labelled 'TDTH Track 14' (I always thought it has that 'hidden track' vibe to it).


The highlight of the set is the mixing and mastering work done by my mate Johnny on the alternate version of 'They Stood Up For Love' (aka 'Big Bang' or 'Ballad' version) - simply stunning

FAN-MADE PROJECT - NOT FOR SALE


In lieu of an official 25th Anniversary release from the band, here is a fan-made
compilation that follows the format of the previous anniversary releases for
Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper, and my fan-made edition for Secret Samadhi.

It presents the album and the two currently available professionally mastered outtakes
on Disc 1 ('Deeper' and 'Vine Street'), 'Sun (Loop Version)' that was released as a B-Side,
'Sparkle (Alternate version)' that was leaked as an mp3 in the early 2000's, and 'They Stood
Up For Love (Alternate version)' that was accidentally released as stems in 2000 for a fan
remix contest. A huge thank you goes to my long-time ROIO colleague Johnny for taking these
TSUFL raw stems and mixing and mastering them into what finally sounds like a professional
recording. A lot of effort went into fixing minor guitar glitches and some off-key vocal
parts, adding room ambience, and balancing the various instrumental tracks so that the full
glory of this version of the song can be heard. Also note that the album version of TSUFL
has been replaced with a new 'full-length' version of the superior 'Radio Mix' (featuring
guitars in the intro riff) that I created for this set using some deft patching edits.

Disc 2 is a pristine live soundboard recording from late 1999, possibly a high water mark for
+Live+ as a live band. This classic show, recorded live at Statenhal in The Hague, Holland has
long been available as a post-FM recording, however thanks to FreakDee, we now have a pre-FM
version of the show which I have remastered to match the louder and fully sounding tracks from
this show featured on the 'Simple Creed' CD single. 'Pillar of Davidson' has been removed and
the encore breaks shortened to allow this version to fit on a standard 80min CD, however an
uncut version will feature on the 6-disc 'Super Deluxe Edition' of this 25th Anniversary set,
which will be made available soon via the same link. This expanded set will feature all
available demos, outtakes, alternate versions and more from The Distance to Here era.

Stunning recreation! As an artwork guy, I'm particularly happy with the effort to seamlessly integrate the 25th anniversary feel. And yeah, I noticed the 'T' in the title being a bit off. Was going to mention something in private, but then read on and you caught it (of course you did ).

Hey Dan, sorry about the delay! Unfortunately I just haven't had the time to complete this yet. I have some time off over January so will hopefully get to it then.

There aren't any exclusive recordings as such - but there will be some much improved remastering of previously sub-par sounding recordings

Why don't you use the flac version of Sparkle from the TDTH Demos?

The TDTH Demo version like the rest of that source is a mono rough mix and simply doesn't sound as good. Superior mix and mastering trumps lossless in this case
