Listening to The Gracious Two now with CT. I was wondering if Ed had planned from the beginning of the 2016 reunion to somehow get back at the other 3 for the 2009 break up, and Rotolo basically brought those thoughts out of my head into the podcast. Neither CT or CG specifically confirmed that, but they didn't really dispell it either.

Also found CT's sarcastic acknowledgement of Ed's accusation of him "stopping the music" interesting. They say they would still be willing to work with Ed if he would be. Idk if he would be. I haven't kept up with what he's doing with "the band". But CT is right, the best era of Līve was the collaborative era. Regardless of how things have changed between the four of them over the years, good times and bad, that was always the constant.

Of course, the falling album sales wasn't all Ed's fault. The music industry has changed massively since 90s, but the first four albums will probably always be the best work from them.

I don't think they ever mentioned him, but I saw a couple of posts by him on Facebook where he said "if it's who I think it is I'll never listen to your podcast again" and "yeah, let's just pretend the last 5 years didn't happen."

Pretty safe assumption he isn't a fan of their reunion, but who knows?

A vinyl release of The Turn would be something else though. CT said at the time they spent extra effort mastering it for vinyl, and then it never came out.

Here’s my theory:

In 2022, Ed commented that he’d love to perform, but the three other members of Live weren’t speaking to each other—and he was caught in the middle. A screenshot of that post is below.

That same year, when CG was upset with CT, he posted on Facebook: “Attention! ED NEVER STOLE MONEY FROM US. The lawsuit was a very poor decision on our part. I publicly apologize for it and any role I played in it.” That post is also shown below.

On Instagram, shortly before the post announcing CT’s firing, I remember Ed leaving a now-deleted comment saying someone in the band admitted the lawsuit was meritless. Don't quote me on this because my memory is hazy, but I think he said something along the lines of: “How can I ever play with them again after they admitted the lawsuit was bogus and the breach of trust that represents?” I’m paraphrasing from memory since the comment was deleted, but I believe was the general message.

My guess: when CG was angry with CT, he tried to buddy up to Ed and said the lawsuit was baseless. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but my guess is he thought that would get him in Ed's good graces.. He apologized, but the move backfired. It may have opened up old wounds and Ed may have decided then to take action and get back at CCP once and for all.

To me, this seems more plausible than the theory that Ed has been trying to push the others out since 2016.

One thing the members of Live tend to do is contradict themselves. For a while, CG claimed CT was the sole source of conflict in the band (screenshot below), but now he’s blaming Ed. You could probably compile a full post just on the contradictions from various members. The problem is, people remember what you’ve said—and after enough flip-flopping, they just see you as the boy who cried wolf, and something you said at one point, whether true or not, is bound to stick.

My guess is that in the CG/CT fallout, something crossed Ed the wrong way, and it all backfired.

I finally made it through this whole interview after listening to pieces of it over multiple days at work.

It's pretty embarrassing listening to a couple 50 year old men discussing what women should and shouldn't wear. I guess they think that's driving listeners, but they sound pathetic.

The co-host is a fucking knob. Completely unlikable dirtbag. He kept up with the "20 year old hyper sexual guy" the whole interview all the way to the end where he mentioned loving the "You're crazy but you fuck so good" line by Buckcherry.

Way too much about strippers and porn star award shows. What percentage of LIVE fans are horny 18 year old boys?

There was some interesting LIVE stuff which Dangum already covered.

I also thought Chad was pretty blunt about Ed. He took a bunch of swings at him. Said everything was about him and in my opinion blamed him for everything.
