Can't believe TDTH came out 25 years ago today.

What a shame they never put out a 25th anniversary edition. So many songs are just sitting on a hard drive somewhere, not being enjoyed by the fans.

Yeah, it's an amazing record and a travesty it's not getting its due with a 25th Anniversary edition.

Well that settles what I'm listening to today since it's pretty much my favorite Live record, though Birds of Pray is right behind it depending on my mood.

Favorite songs off TDTH:

1. Where Fishes Go is my absolute favorite song on the album, HOWEVER, I prefer the live version because they rocked the hell out of the intro and it quickly became my favorite version. The studio version just doesn't hit the same.

2. Feel the Quiet River Rage. I get White, Discussion vibes from this song, especially in the last minute when it just fully rocks out. I wish they would have played this live more often during that tour.

3. Sparkle. I listen to this song mainly to get to the drum fill to end the song.

4. TSUFL. I also prefer the live version of this one.

5. Run to the Water. It's my wife's favorite song of theirs so it goes on the list by default. It's a rock ballad that I can actually stand. It's also fun to play on drums, and if the studio history of how Gracey recorded this song is true, it's even cooler to me. Hot take: I'd rather listen to this song for the rest of my life than hear Lightning Crashes ever again.

I think it's probably my favourite Live album. That used to be Secret Samadhi, but I kind of appreciate this album being slightly more upbeat and trippy, but before they devolved into happy clappy nonsense. Who else would have put a harpsichord solo into a rock song at this point in time, audacious and brilliant. I'm not sure if it was a real harpsichord as that's not listed in the credits, but man it sounds cool.

The standard of writing across this album is very impressive, and Chad's guitar sounds great.

This album could have been a masterpiece, but unfortunately Ed decided to lob in a bunch of his own material which unfortunately diluted the CD.

Tracks I would replace:

Dance With You
They Stood Up For Love
The Dolphin's Cry
Sun
Sparkle
We Walk In The Dream
Voodoo Lady

Replace? What’s wrong with a double album 😉

The album is pretty close to a masterpiece as is. The Dolphins Cry and Voodoo Lady are top tier. vine Street is an incredible song that I think would’ve and could’ve been a great single for this album.

That would require a small amount of advanced planning and giving a shit.

In my view this was Ed’s best writing by far. Musically I like SS a bit more, TDTH is where I think we had prime Live.

I would replace them with the unreleased tracks of that era and there are most likely other tracks that were recorded for the album that we haven't heard that are still better than those.
