QUOTE(Bob @ Aug 11 2024, 5:31 pm) *

I think I'm in the same boat as JonSnow and SuperHans. I've been a fan of them since 1996 and they're the reason why I'm a drummer, so I'm a Live Lifer at this point, but after hearing the bootleg concert audio on Facebook and hearing this studio snippet, I've got pretty low expectations. I'll listen to it once or twice and then patiently wait for the next release and do it all over again.

The magic of Live was Ed, Pat, and the Chad's. Now that it's Ed/Zak/Johnny/Chris, with Ed and Zak writing the songs together, it's a new phase.

I'll always tune in to see what they're up to, but I have a feeling I'll move on pretty quickly. Nowadays I spend more time on this board than I do listening to their music, and that makes me sad.

What happened to Robin? I thought he was the Ed solo/new Live drummer?

First of all "intensive purposes" is incorrect grammar. I think you meant to say for all intents and purposes.

Registers to Fansoflive and starts her first post with some grammar correction. very well surrender.gif

Even if it were good, it's still Loyve. Either that, or it's Ed solo with a rebranding. Live is on indefinite hiatus.

We got the song over here in New Zealand today.
Heard it for the first time, and i thought it was pretty decent, better then the stuff that came out on the Local 717 EP, all though I did like Venus in Furs cover.

Well thanks to a VPN, I've heard Lady Bhang. If you've heard the preview, you have a pretty good idea of the sound.

Overall, I'd rate it as good, but not amazing. It doesn't sound have the Adult Contemporary sound like BOP/SFBM (it's got a good rocking groove that should go over well in concerts) and it sounds better than Local 717 (which I thought tried a little too hard to have a contemporary hard rock sound to its detriment). But it doesn't sound like "classic Live", whatever that sounds like. Even the first four albums have an individual unique sound, that there really isn't a "classic Live" sound. I haven't heard the original Goose Blackstone version for comparison.

So it's good enough to keep "rollin", but not a big comeback (not that I was expecting it to be). Just glad Ed is keeping the train going.

It’s okay I guess.
It doesn’t sound ‘too safe’ like BoP, SFBM or Local717 did.
On the other hand, it doesn’t sound like a radio song. It doesn’t need to be, I know, but for a new single after so many years you’d expect a little more radio friendly song. Doesn’t mean it can’t be played there, but still.
Musically i liked the LIVE with CCCP a lot better, but I know you can’t really compare.
Ed doesn’t sound that bad, but certainly sounded better in the past. Lyrically the song doesn’t do anything for me.
Also, this doesn’t have to do a lot with LIVE. It’s Ed’s project and I think I’d have listened different to it if it was branded as Ee solo. Now I’m comparing and it doesn’t make sense.
Last but not least: I need to listen to it more than just these few times.

Just heard it. It's ok. It's the preview in long-form. Not nearly enough Dean though. Needs more DeanBell.

It's got nothing to do with Live. Even less so now that Ed is collaborating with members outside of the band.

It's pretty boring and I found myself forgetting it was on both times I listened to it. Doesn't bother me as I don't expect to be enjoying new Live music in 2024. Just cool that Ed's enjoying himself at last.

I can't think of a band putting out new music with worse production. Is this self produced? It's unskilled, muddy uninspired stuff. Songwriting is not the greatest either. Sounds 717-esque.
