At this point it's apparent that Live's heyday has passed. The original band has dissolved, their genre of music currently is not mainstream, they haven't had a hit single in forever, and they haven't produced an album of significance since 1999. For all intensive purposes Līve has become a 90's nostalgia act. Mostly a draw for people in their 40's and 50's who want to go out for a evening to hear a few hits that they remember from high school or college.

Yet, on August 16, Līve will deliver it's newest single- Lady Bhang (She Got Me Rollin'). Like any new music this song could be amazing, meh, horrible, or somewhere in between. Since Līve does not frequently put out new music (the last time was an effort in 2018 that consisted of four new songs and a cover that were generally not well recieved) this is a pretty big deal for the remaining hardcore fans.

When the studio version drops on the 16th what will it mean to you? If you feeel it's amazing will it renew your interest and investment into the band? If it's just alright will that be okay with you? If it is absolutely horrible is that a final nail in the coffin of hope that Līve will remain on the extreme fringe of relevancy in the music scene?

I would love to hear where people are mentally at prior the the studio release!

I guess I'm pretty nonplussed about it, and it's unlikely to matter or change anything regardless of the quality. It would be interesting if it were good, though. Or at least something a little different, in one way or another.

If it’s a great song, I’d be very surprised, and would renew hope for new music with the same quality in the future. I just can’t imagine a new song being near the same quality as the first 4 albums or any of the better songs on BoP or V

If it’s good, and enjoyable (which seems to me the case by the preview), then I’ll listen to the song and won’t change anything regarding their legacy. This is generally how I feel about TFATM

If it’s bad, no big deal, and won’t change anything regarding their legacy either

At this point, I’m just happy to go to the concerts and listen to the old albums (4 of which are amongst my favorite albums of all time), and there’ll always be my favorite band

If it’s great then it might motivate me to see them in concert again a bit more, but honestly it’ll probably fade from my playlist before the come around here so maybe not. Now, if they string two or three great songs in a row, that might perk my interest up a bit more. And for me the bar for a great song isn’t super high anymore.

I will always check in on this band. And when I say "this band" I mean Ed, Chad, Chad, and Pat. Whether they're together or apart. What they're doing (band related or otherwise) may interest me or it may not, and it may even disappoint the shit out of me what they're into, but they and their music have had way too big of an impact on me for far too long for me to just "abandon ship" now. At this point I'm a lifer.

First of all “intensive purposes” is incorrect grammar. I think you meant to say for all intents and purposes.

All artists and musicians go through lulls and navigate through it just like anyone else. The only caveat is that there are persons such as yourself criticizing every single note, lyric, guitar part, record sale, social media post and personal life choice of said artist.

The music industry has changed to the detriment of the artists. The fact that Ed is still creating given all the shit he has been put through is a phenomenal feat in and of itself. Give the man some grace and put yourself in his shoes for 5 seconds. Unless you’ve been or are an artist or musician, you have no idea what it is like to emotionally expose yourself every single day only to be criticized by complete strangers.

Musicians create because they know no other way of life. It’s not just a song or a lyrics - it’s who we are as people. We were born this way, like it or not. We need to sustain conducive environments to create amazing songs. The new version of the band is doing just that. They are collaborating, making new memories, hopefully good memories that can carry them to the next stage of this amazing journey. The music will be amazing simply because it exists.

I think that Nick guy will ruin the front of his pants.

Nobody else will care, it will have no playtime, no interest and will exist only to Live fans as another song to occasionally spin.

Imagine Love Lounge, but with even less impact....

This isn’t a personal question but “if no one cares”, including yourself, then why does one read and contribute to a message board?

In my case its because the band has been part of my life for so long that I'm a lifer now. I stay in the know but also stay firmly planted in reality.

Ok cool. Just felt like an unnecessary negative response to the initial post on what this song would mean to YOU based on the quality. You responded with how Nick and the general population would feel.

On the song itself, it sounds interesting, no more, no less, but the tendency Ed has to overdub his voice always in unisson high and low is annoying.

I think I'm in the same boat as JonSnow and SuperHans. I've been a fan of them since 1996 and they're the reason why I'm a drummer, so I'm a Live Lifer at this point, but after hearing the bootleg concert audio on Facebook and hearing this studio snippet, I've got pretty low expectations. I'll listen to it once or twice and then patiently wait for the next release and do it all over again.

The magic of Live was Ed, Pat, and the Chad's. Now that it's Ed/Zak/Johnny/Chris, with Ed and Zak writing the songs together, it's a new phase.

I'll always tune in to see what they're up to, but I have a feeling I'll move on pretty quickly. Nowadays I spend more time on this board than I do listening to their music, and that makes me sad.

We are both correct here.
