QUOTE(Pingfah @ Aug 6 2024, 10:42 am) *

I'd say given Gracey's idiotic views and the commensurate manner in which he expresses them, it's likely he is utterly insufferable as a person.

Still a good drummer though.

One man's "idiotic" views are another man's common sense. And one man's "commensurate manner of expression" is another man's compensation for lack of representation in public discourse otherwise. Given your disdain of him for simply holding different views than you maybe you're the insufferable one. But I don't know you so I can't make that call.

Careful watching this... reality and facts may contradict broken narratives.

Harris wasn't even an option for the Dems until Biden's decline forced their hand. She isn't their choice, she's their adopted necessity. They could have made RFK their candidate, but they're fucking morons who bow to the special interests that are running their party.

But everyone else has a choice, regardless of whether it's RFK or Trump. Either of those two would be better for this country's future than Harris, imo. I just can't imagine looking at the last four years and coming away with any other conclusion.

The guy is talking with Roseanne about leaving a dead bear cub in Central Park. He has zero chance if winning.

I'd be interested to know how you rationalise / explain away Trump's insanely long list of - let's be polite - indiscretions, many of which individually would've ended any other politician's career. Somehow, as a mind blowing collective, it's still not enough to convince many Trump supporters that there's even the slightest thing wrong with him. Is it all just hand waving and notions of the lamestream media etc? Do you have any sense of irony when you tell others they're burying their heads in the sand?

I'm more concerned about the current administration's insanely long list of indiscretions. Also, there's more to the opposition to the current administration than just "brain dead Trumpers blindly swallowing Trumpisms whole." I mean, when "trusted news sources" are bashing the crap out of one side of ______ and not showing any impartiality whatsoever maybe they shouldn't be so trusted?

Politicians have all had their say, but they're still the ones we elect to provide direction to the country (in the US at least) because a lot of people (most?) don't have the aptitude or ego for the job. Democrats and Republicans... both sides think they are always right. It makes zero sense to let one side or the other have unfettered authority and power from now on just because they think they're right.

The Democrats have had the last four years to run this country into the ground with bad policies in regards to our border, economy, embarassing foreign military presence (or lack thereof), etc etc. Maybe if/when the Republicans regain some power in Washington it'll be 50 different shades of the same thing, but we have to keep ebbing and flowing until we get it right. Because no one side has a monopoly on purity, virtue, or truth.

Trump may not be the "hero" we deserve, but the one we need. Or maybe it's the other way around. But Kamala Harris is neither, imo. She's an integral part of the current problem and is in no way part of the solution.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about it. If people will keep it semi-cordial and want to continue the political talk with me then my DMs are open. Otherwise I'm done with the politics.

Taylor Swift has come out and publicly supported Kamala Harris after Donald Trump posted a fake endorsement by Taylor Swift.

How soon before Ed also gets on the bandwagon? Maybe he'll hook up with Moby again and we'll get another cover of a boring blues track that nobody has ever heard of?

One man's "idiotic" views are another man's common sense.

“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'" –– Isaac Asimov, Newsweek, 1980
