Whoa, there we go. Suddenly after almost 8 years we hear the unreleased songs that were mentioned many times. You can hear they worked together on it. Local 717 doesn’t sound like they did.

Anyway, the intro to the last song grabbed me. Ahh. So sad it was never finished, could have been a decent BoP type of song. The lyrics in all three songs weren’t that special, but the music wasn’t that bad. So sad it might have been the last thing they did together, like CG said. And yeah, who’s the chick?

Make it a seperate thread, Dan, now we heard (parts) of four of the five songs nod.gif ‘the lost and final 2016-era tracks’

10.000 Cups! Yes! Yes. Sounds like there is a studio version? Wheter it is a demo or not.

How did they go from this type of songs (2016) to Local 717 only two years later?

The rot between Ed and Taylor was always festering. 717 was a complete disaster sans the cover song. Gracey had mentioned that Taylor was not a team player in the reunion, just looking for a gravy train and negotiated in bad faith on set percentages. He basically did power of attorney like things and Ed was still bothered by the 2009 fiasco.

These songs were worked on what 9 years ago now….. scuttled for the shitty produced 717

Imo, I think Ed needs to get together with some musicians who are from his peer group and just go on a songwriting retreat or something with them somewhere. My first pick would be guys like the DeLeo brothers from STP. I don't know if they'd have time/willingness to do it and I don't know if they'd even gel together well, but that's the general idea. Maybe Emerson Hart of Tonic and Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra? Adam Duritz? Idk... friends/peers/people he can get into a real creative flow with.

Whatever Ed, Chad, Chad, and Pat are to each other now, you know as well as I do that the reason those first four albums were so great was because of the creative flow between those four. It wasn't about flashy Nuno Bettencourt-style guitar solos, Mike Portnoy-complicated drum solos, or Victor Wooten bass hooks. It was about great fucking songs. Even if 717 had the best production... those songs were mid at best. And Ed has far better in him than fucking mid-level songs. Where's the guy who wrote "Operation Tyranny"? Or "Top", "Iris", and "White, Discussion"?

He needs real creatives around him to bring that level of song out of him, not flash-as-fuck session musicians who, technically talented as they may be, don't like to venture too far outside of learned scales, familiar paradiddles, and simple ass time signatures. Like Master Yoda says, "you must unlearn what you have learned."

If you’re going to talk shit at least come correct. The Gracious audience is a lot bigger than your little brain can comprehend I guess. We go LIVE on Tuesdays to multiple streaming platforms.. There are 1000’s of peeps that tune in on Facebook, RUMBLE, Twitter, Twitch and sometimes we go LIVE on other platforms as well and then we have the audio only portion that’s months behind the LIVE show on Spotify, Apple podcast, Pandora and anywhere else you listen to podcast that has 1000’s of listens per episode oh and then we throw in our random Instagram Only LIVE Show that’s only done with audience participation as well.
Don’t take my word for it.. Go look up the numbers.. They’re public knowledge!!! The show grows and gains more followers every week and we love and appreciate everyone coming on this journey with us.

Peace and Love,
JRo

We might not be enough to grow your podcast, but you'll not gain that many listeners with that kind of answers.

I don't care enough about your stupid Podcast to look up the actual numbers. Me and my "little brain" will continue to avoid your Flat Earth and conspiracy talk. You sure do put the "Shit" in Shitcast (your actual tagline)!
