This sounds really good. And I hate to say it, but if it was rebranded as Live, I would be praising it as a mature step in the right direction, sounding more like Live than Local 717 (or anything post-Birds of Pray for that matter). I know it's just one song, but I dig the pivot towards folk/blues/etc. Kinda weird that both Ed and Chad are going for that vibe now.

Fingers crossed it ends up on streaming services before too long. Strange to have it sitting on the shelf for four years before doing anything with it. I guess the various legal shenanigans have played a part in that.

i wouldn't be surprised if this is basically ed k solo album 3, and came from those recording sessions from before the reunion. ed always said he would do his solo thing after the reunion. however, after local 717 they were in the middle of writing new live tracks for a full album, of which they said they had maybe 5 songs in progress. all of this delayed ed's third solo release. i bet this album has been sitting in Ed's pocket for 8 years.

I'd be surprised if he did that type of songs after his 2nd solo album, and since Loy is producer and plays in it, I do think they are recent songs, just a feeling, bremang could be right.

As for the song itself, of course we have heard this song so many times by other artists because of the basic chord progression. But hearing it from Ed makes us go in a safe space. I wouldn't put that song on repeat, but I like it. Hope there's more risks taken on the other songs.

His voice looks a bit off though on some of the videos shared so far for this tour. Maybe it's just video quality but when I saw him last summer it looked better. Really enjoyed that family moment at Live's show last year.

I'm guessing not:

"For those of you asking for a digital copy of the album, you're out of luck.

I respect Ed and the band, and they'll release it digitally if/when they want.

I would be surprised if there was any expectation or desire from Ed, or anyone, for this album to not be shared from the moment the vinyl gets released. Everything they do will be recorded, reproduced and/or shared, if they’re lucky. Sharing it only puts more money in Ed’s pocket- this has already been scientifically proven several times over since 1997 with Napster. There are 3500 copies of this vinyl and they are all getting sold easily. If there aren’t digital copies circulating yet, then there will be within the next coming days. All of these record companies and guys like Lars Ulrich have somehow convinced the older generation that the music industry still operates like when Mental Jewelry was released. Any sentiments suggesting that hoarding an album protects a band are completely out of touch.

seriously...would love to get a review from anyone who's heard it.

MY GUESS. is he won't do a wider release, as some of this will be used on an upcoming LIVE album. Or at least EK is keeping that option open.

$40 * 3,500 = $140,000. Not bad.

Hope Ed brings a stack to Australia next month...

Unfortunately, Ed did not bring the record to Australia so I was unable to purchase a copy.

Autographed copies were being sold for $100 at shows in the US.

I don't understand why Ed hasn't put it up for sale on his Ed Kowalczyk online store.

I know, right. What sort of person records an album, presses it to vinyl, sits on it for 3 years and then doesn't make it available to their fans? And we're expected to wait for scraps? And the select few who manage to be lucky enough to be at a show where it's being sold don't even share mp3s? How far Live and their fans have fallen.

It's really only the Live fans who are hoarding the album that are human garbage
