Chad Gracey on Instagram, Did he go cuckoo? Options

Been following Gracey for a while on ig and it's really upsetting to see him go headlong into a weird right-wing, Q-anon, Trumpist nosedive. He's basically just sharing (anti-Biden) conspiracies non-stop. Nothing about music at all.

Did he go mental after he got booted out of the band or was this maybe the reason he got booted in the first place?

I don’t think I noticed his barrage of right-wing posts until covid & the band seemingly on hiatus (before we knew the real). Ed openly supported Obama & Biden. I know friends can be friends and keep politics aside, but your question is an interesting one. However, I doubt it got him booted from the band. Hynes has the same views and I’ve noticed Ed seems cool with him.

Started in the trump years and just grew to its natural conclusion today. I don't think it was what broke up the band - he's just turning into a crazy uncle and it's really sad.

I think Ed's got some setting (or PR team member) that likes everything. I've noticed EVERYTHING gets liked on some posts, even the trolls.

Just because someone has different political opinions than you it doesn't make them mental. Maybe CG found over time and through life experiences that his world view wasn't what it was cracked up to be when he was 20 years old. Maybe he got outside of the protective bubble of the leftist groupthink echo chamber many bands of the 90s always seemed to live in. Maybe instead of just dismissing it as "far right qanon Trumpster nuttery" you could do your own research that goes outside of normal information bubble.

Fwiw, it doesn't take a far righty to see how corrupt the Biden administration is. But you'll have to pry your eyes away from the usual media suspects to see it.

Indeed. I’ve often noticed those who are trapped in their own bubble often accuse others of being in a bubble. Both left and right.

Human beings like to have their opinions validated, and when they find a group of people with similar views… boom, instant and ongoing validation. “These other people get it! I knew I was right!”

Just like how some people double down on a position when presented new information and facts that should, in theory, help them modify or rethink their position. Nope. That information is fake news. Those facts aren’t the real facts, their own alternative facts are.

This isn’t about left or right. I know tons of people all over the political spectrum who do this.
