Here is a list of songs that Live and Ed Kowalczyk have covered. I've excluded The Gracious Few. I think I've included them all - if I've missed any let me know and I will add it to the list.

Which is your favourite?

I really like when Ed covered Radioactive. I wish he’d formally record it.

I Walk The Line

I remember when a contestant on American Idol maybe, did a cover of I Walk the Line and it was extremely similar to Live's version. They ended up performing the song with the contestant on the show instead of suing, pretty sure today's version of Live would have sued!!

That would be Chris Daughtry, and then Live came on and did Mystery with him in the finale.

That is who it was, I never watched the show, and I thought they did Walk the Line, thanks for the videos.

I was a fan of that show at the time. Daughtry’s performances had reminded me so much of Ed and Live, by the time he covered I Walk the Line, it confirmed my beliefs. Then, the finale, “Here’s Chris Daughtry performing with his favorite band, Līve…” and I was like, “I told y’all!” I was really pulling for him. Crazy he came in third place.

Oh don't make me choose between supernatural, I walk the line, and god don't ever change! Just glad helter-skelter wasn't on there or it would make it more complicated.

Let's see if I've got my dates right, with the help of setlist.fm:

Supernatural was covered back in the TC tour days, as they performed it on MTV Unplugged, so 1994-1995.

Love My Way was covered in the SS tour era, starting in early 1997. (Side note: I would have loved to have been at that Connecticut show on 2/12/97 where they first played all the new SS songs live. I wonder if there's a bootleg of that one. They started with Unsheathed! WHAT)

I Walk The Line was covered back in the TDTH tour era, around late 2000. The recording video I found on YouTube shows CT playing a powder blue Strat. I don't think I've seen that guitar before.

I don't think I've heard Live's rendition of Radioactive. I can't seem to find a standalone video of it. Was it one of those medley things that they stitched into I Alone or something?

It seems that most of Live's best covers were pre-2000. I wonder why that is. Were the cover choices not good? Was it the arrangement? I'm very curious, especially as a musician that has dabbled in covers from time to time.

Hi Bob. It was solo Ed doing Radioactive. Here you go.

Thanks for sharing. That explains a lot, actually. I didn't follow Ed's solo stuff, so this flew right by me, and I'm not an Imagine Dragons fan, so it doesn't really move the needle for me anyway.

I couldn't find Ed covering Sex on Fire after looking through numerous pages of setlist.fm dates from 2008 until 2020, but I did find the Bruce Springsteen cover that Ed did of "I'm on Fire" back in 2013. Plenty of hits on YouTube for that.

Dan, spill it!

There's a thread regarding Ed's performance of Sex on Fire, however the YouTube link is no longer active. I will check my archives to see if I downloaded a copy but I don't know if I did...

Hoostock did rip an MP3 of it, so hopefully he may still have a copy of it.

Ed covering 'Sex on Fire'
