I still can’t understand the rationale of comparing CT and Ed, I really can’t. CT has deceived every single person on the band, which is a fact, and there is nothing factual that Ed has done the same.

I'm not comparing them in any way. Just saying they both fucked other band members over. The way they did it is very different and not comparable, as far as we know. But that wasn't the point at all. If Ed really fired the other guys, which is not just a thing Chris said, from many other aspect it definitely looks like it (and of course Ed's not going to confirm or deny anything as he's a master in pretending nothing negative is happening).

Also also, I've learned that narcissists have a public and private persona and for that reason, any time anyone seems to be a manipulative narcissit, I'm off. I will never ever trust them again. Ed's been in that category for the past 12 years and now Chad is up there. Unless we're presented with cold hard objective evidence of the contrary (not just someone saying one of them's not the problem).

But given what we know, Ed and CT can't be compared and that's not what I did either.

Also, you do realize that without the internet or the intervention of someone who litterally physically follows them on tour, you'd have never noticed right? Every artist in the world forget lyrics once in a while and that's what it would have passed for had you not watch videos of performance. In all honesty, do we know if Jimi Hendrix kept forgetting a lyrics to the same song over and over? No. But because everything is filmed now, it's a new standard? And for what reason?

But OK, let's say you're a diehard fan and you follow them on their tour. You're telling me you're unable to enjoy the frontman as a whole because he forgets some lyrics? That fucks up the whole experience for you?

And this has nothing to do with defending Chris for me, I'm waaaayyy past sticking up for anyone in this shit show. I'm just baffled at the nitpicking against him.

Chris Shinn was unprepared for the job he accepted. He showed up to work without memorizing lyrics. You can justify that to yourself all you would like if it makes you feel happier in this situation, but he was unprepared and that ruined shows for some fans. If it didn't ruin it for you, then you have nothing to worry about and you can enjoy your memories. Others feel different and those memories will not be changed.

This is the first time I've ever seen someone say Chris had any issues with alcohol abuse or that it had anything to do with his dismissal. But that's what he seemed to be intimating.

I personally can't stand it. Many others here agree. If you're singing for the band, that's basically the highest authority for the art. Who wants to pay money to see someone fuck up, or who wants to the the music they love just get defiled like that. Sure, modern technology allows us to consume the art by watching concert footage, and it sucks to see the art get dragged through the mud multiple times. It's awkward as a fan in attendance. It's disappointing when fans are trying to see if the new guy is good enough to replace Ed.

To me, nothing appears to be a lie or made up. He is the only one who hasn't lied, fabricated stories, mislead fans or sued band members. Seems like the one I'd back.

He also has a much shorter and less complicated history with the band. It’s like comparing a girlfriend to a marriage.

I think the length of time that the band was together, riding the highs and lows etc had an influence over their various relationships with each other.

It’s like saying Zak is the most honest member of Live, he’s been around longer than Chris was. They are blimps on the timeline that is Live so shouldn’t be compared to the original members in my opinion.

Not the first time I am hearing about Chris and alcohol - and it being the reason for his dismissal. Doesn't make if fact, but yea, I heard it before - and from a decent source. And I love Chris.

Idk. Maybe he does hit the sauce regularly,, or did back then. It's not exactly unheard of in his business. According to CT he was plastered when he wrote the riff to Lakini's Juice. Alcohol seems to have been the wheel's grease many times over the band's career so dismissing CS because he had a few too many a few too many times would seem hypocritical at best, imo. But I don't buy that that was the reason.
