What's Going On? Is Live Over? Options

This is a drummer lingo post, so unless you're a drummer or care about drum things, you may find this boring, but I had to share because I love you all. Yes, even you.

After seeing the pics of Gracey's kit and his drumsticks just hanging out in the picture, I, being the snoopy drummer that's shadowed CG's drums for some 20-odd years now, e-mailed Pro Mark last night and asked them what sticks he's using these days. I already knew that he's using their "ActiveGrip" line, but I wanted to know exactly what model, since the ones that us plebs can purchase aren't like his, and I was right. They replied this morning, which was super cool of them.

Here are the dimensions: 16" long, .551" thick, oval tip. They're special made for him, and they won't sell them to the public. I'll never understand drumstick endorsements, but whatever. They could have made a mint off me if they sold those publicly, but I digress.

The closest match would be the Mike Portnoy model, though that one is .5" longer and slightly thicker at .565", but closer to a traditional 5A stick. Their suggestion was the Rich Redmond model, which is the same length at 16", but way thicker at .595" as a 5B stick, and IMO, not even close. I think they recommended that one because it's got the red stripe like CG's has, but I prefer a thinner stick. YMMV. I own both of those models and far prefer the Mike Portnoy one.

So, if you ever want CG's sticks, good luck catching one at a future show or buying it off eBay, if they ever appear there. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a CG stick for sale there.

He's fairly active on Facebook. Maybe he'd give/sell you a pair of his own if you asked? Or at least tell you how you might get a pair otherwise. Maybe not, but if you never ask he definitely won't.

Might just be the security for the site is outdated? I'm getting a "site not secure" message when trying to go there. I choose to leave every time because I don't want to load a potentially compromised website onto my device/computer.

I’m worried something fishy is up. Both Ed and Freaks4Live don’t follow Gracey and Pat on Instagram, and Ed announced new shows are coming from the Freaks4Live account. I think Ed refollowed Pat and Gracey at one point after announcing CT was fired, and the unfollowing seems new, but I could be wrong.

I will also probably be listing more items in the future. Not to be a downer, but I don't like the direction the band is going, if you can even call it a band anymore. Sad, because they were a huge part of my life from about age 15 to 23 or so.

Remember, a while back I said it was weird that their official website never announced a change of guitarist. Loy should have officially been announced by the other three or Freaks4Live. Not just Ed. I’m also not convinced Ed, CG, & Pat even communicate (especially Pat).

LiveForNow is correct, that same IG post is also on Freaks 4 Live account.

I happened to observe, in real time, Ed post the announcement for Lighting Crashes reimagined (the one where he is wearing the suit jacket) to his own IG first. Then, a few minutes later the video disappeared from his IG and later reappeared/reposted on Freaks 4 Live’s IG.

Afterwards, Ed posted a second announcement to his own IG. If you watch the two videos, they are slightly different (the kiss).

So, Ed runs, or had someone with him who runs, the official Līve Instagram account.
