Very sad to see the state of the band as we approach the SS anniversary.

Regardless of who or what is at fault, it just sucks.

All I can say is I still appreciate the SS album all these years later. I remember being at the Jones Beach show on August 6th 1997 like it was yesterday. What a time to be a Live fan.

We can't go back but we can still enjoy the music and the memories. rockin.gif

Live had nothing to do with this other than providing the multimedia. They made no decision. Those involved with the work decided against releasing. Believe or theorize all you'd like. Facts are facts and YOU were the reason. hi.gif

Would Live be able to re-record one of those unreleased songs and release it as a single to celebrate the 25th anniversary of SS?
Kind of what the band did by recording songs with Shinn years ago.

I think they could always release something for the anniversary, if they really wanted to.

For whatever reason, it just doesn't seem likely.

Back on topic - fingers crossed we eventually get a SS 25th Anniversary release this year. Either way I'm currently working on a fan-made SS Live in Concert disc that I hope to finish soon thumbsup.gif

everybody's here
puke stinks like beer
this could be a city
this could be a graveyard
you stole my idea
you stole my idea

everybody's anxious
for the coming of the crisis
the collapse of the justice
I can smell your armpits
you stole my idea
you stole my idea
you stole my idea!
this puke stinks like beer and everybody's here

You quoted me, but I gave no mention of unreleased songs. Multimedia content can include text, images, audio, video, and animation.

Bands can record practically anything they wish to record. Some have re-recorded their own songs (Journey, Taylor Swift, etc.) to attempt to secure ownership of those re-records to then be used for commercial use for their gain and control. Some bands are against re-recording their songs/albums as they want the original recordings to be the go-to versions.

Given that we’ve established that releasing an anniversary album isn’t a zero cost game, I wonder how much of this is influenced by the success (or lack of) from the 25th anniversary albums for Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper. If those both ended up being less than stellar money drivers it might not have made sense to release SS anniversary since it’s not likely to outperform TC. I’ve never seen anything relating to how much TC sold or brought in for its rerelease but given the lack of promotion I can’t imagine it was too great.

So it looks like this sadly isn't going to happen sad.gif

Time to take matters into my own hands eyebrow.gif

But first, two quick questions I was hoping someone can answer.

1. Can anyone confirm for sure that the 'Holier Than Now Zen' Remix of 'Freaks' from the 1998 FOL Holiday Gift is the same as the 'Labor Labor Labor Remix' on the 'Freaks/Turn My Head' singles?

2. Does anyone have the alternative Secret Samadhi artwork proofs that were posted somewhere on this forum years ago? They featured the four B&W portraits of the band members in a square formation with four different font options...

I don't even remember the holier than now zen remix.

Do we have a copy of the 1998 FOL gift floating anywhere?
If they did change the name, that would be weak

what an absolute fucking shame that this anniversary only got social media call out.

Lots of fans were hoping for a rightful release on this gem of a LP.

Now that Live is back, will they honor Secret Samadhi 25 in some way?

New merch? Re-Recorded outtake?
Shows with a few deeper cuts from SS?

I'm just happy that they are back!

While I’m excited Ed chose not to lie low and to take this ship by the helm, I’m not optimistic that things like new merch and a proper SS celebratory release will start happening soon. CT is just no longer the guitarist. He still owns his part of Līve, so can’t he still sue for anything they try to do? shrug.gif I’m legit wondering. I mean, he hasn’t even made a statement regarding Ed’s move and it’s been what, a week already. I think we’re going to be waiting a loooong time still for Līve niceties. I would love for someone who knows more about the legalities of it all to let us know.

In what form are they back, really? Will we hear something official?
I mean, they might be as ‘back’ as last three years heynow.gif but with one guitarist leaving. It’s time to clear the air.

Ps. I don’t expect anything around the SS anniversary anymore at this point.
