My latest guess is the issue is that Chad G won't get vaccinated. One person commented on Facebook that Ed isn't the one holding them up. Chad G also isn't following every member of the band on IG.

Without getting into whether this guess is actually accurate, why bother if you can't tour it? COVID vax is going to be a requirement for a long time if you want to tour outside of the USA, and not having one will probably restrict your ability to tour even inside the USA for quite a while.

Australia, NZ and lots of Europe like Norway, Netherlands, Austria, these are all their biggest markets. If they can't tour them then making an album is a waste of time.

This has been my guess for a while. Also, throw in the fact that he’s still chummy with Bill Hynes.

And so I ask again… why not replace the drummer for a tour????

Florida and Texas to name two.

Chad G seems like he's going to die on the not getting vaccinated hill (and legit could die from it). It's such a contentious issue, and I think Chad G's overall politics could be a cause of a major strife. I could see one of the other three members not wanting to tour with an unvaccinated drummer, and Chad G does not seem like the type of person who would allow himself to be replaced over this.

They're also only a touring act at this point anyway, so no new music regardless.

Oh, I think they are closer to the end than the beginning. But i do think we will get some shows this year, either Ed or full band.

If its Ed, I think we get some music too.
