Which can be countered with the amount of acts that have cancelled 2021 touring and are also not releasing new music.

All the artists you mentioned, outside of Aerosmith, had new music releases during the pandemic. Check their Spotify.

QUOTE(OutToDry @ Jul 16 2021, 11:06 am) *

this place exists to archive the band, perhaps keep it relevant (but it doesn't). It only sees about a dozen posters here and the thousands of others haven't been here in 20 yrs.

But basically, this site to vent and complain and vilify them - 1000%

So maybe they have a good reason for the inactivity. All the pining about lack of updates I can understand but it takes on a new level. Things in this world are just trying to go back to normal, although the $$$ changers want to place more bs on us all.

At some point one needs to reflect and then realize the shit they complain about is trivial and unimportant.
I saw gruno post and felt i needed to. Just let everything play out and in time Live will update you all on the state of the band and those in it.

The shit people are complaining about is the fact that the band hasn't released an album since The Turn (7 years and counting) and haven't released an honest to god rock album with the original 4 members since at least BOP. They are also complaining about the lack of contact from mission control. In a day and age of instant commucation you would think that would be unheard of, but not in Liveland. Not even in the middle of a nearly year long isolation of people from each other in which long distancing has become the damn near norm.

If that's trivial and people shouldn't bother following the band any longer then so be it. But then why should they care about some vague future update that may not come? If it's trivial and unimportant that is.

She just had a baby this week. I don't think she was planning to tour anyway. facepalm.gif

You can cherry pick bands that have cancelled (usually arena/stadium acts) and I can provide bands that are touring in the summer (Candlebox)

Fact is, if bands really want to tour then they find a way.

Exactly. We can go back and forth finding bands that are performing, while finding others that have cancelled. It's a moot point. I've been saying that from the start. Yet, people want to compare one band against another as if it were an even playing field, which it is not from band to band.

In the end, it's their career, not yours, mine, or anyone else's on this board. Live, as a band, post when they want, they tour when they want, they record when they want. If people are upset about Live's timeline of operations, then don't follow the band any further would be my advice. If this is causing trauma in day-to-day lives of some fans, then they might be best seeking shelter with a different artist or group, wouldn't you say?

Telling Live fans to jump ship, isn't exactly the best way for Live to remain strong in touring.

Don't follow them on social media does not equate to "do not go see them perform at a concert". no.gif

I do understand why people have a difficult time with you.

If you are having a problem with something (if it is a band or something else) that you can't remedy and it is irritating you, why stick around for the pain & punishment it is causing you? On the other hand, you could choose to complain about it daily...

You said "do not follow the band any further".

I would think that Live to want to engage and keep their fans in some way. Doesn't make sense to push fans away for any reason.

Most Līve fans have jumped ship. That’s a consequence ECCP have to accept for choosing not to engage with their fans and build community.

With that said, I’m really enjoying Greta Van Fleet right now. Those young lads worked hard on an exceptional album that was released in April.

Hey, kid. If I said to jump off a bridge, you gonna do it?

Your already odd obsession with Live seems to be taking over more and more as Live disappears from your life.

You will post more and more death knell diatribes in your mourning posts.

PS -- Live isn't pushing any fans away -- silence does not equate to pushing.

Jumped ship.

Where did the fans go?
Did these fans delete their social media feeds of Live?
Are they gone forever never to return?
If Live releases an album or tours in 2021 or 2022, will those people not go to the shows or buy the music?
Will those former fans be boycotting everything Live related?

Also, how do you define 'most' in this case?

I am trying to understand what Live ship was sailing that they jumped off.

I wish I knew. Definitely not posting in here like they used to be. I’m always trying to find fellow fans. Instead, things like this happen—
A) I’m grocery shopping in my Līve 2019 tour shirt. A guy in the store comes up to me and says, “Līve!! When’s the last time they had a good album? 20 years ago?” (Damn it, yes!) and “I really liked them back then. They still tour?”
B) Boyfriend of concert buddy says, “You guys are going to Līve? Shouldn’t they be opening up for a Nirvana cover band?” (Ouch)

Probably

See my answer above.

Based on their lack of relevancy right now. I think the summer tours with Bush and Counting Crows were smart pairings. Had they a stronger EP & some more new music or an album, they’d have more fan interest. But hey, as long as they are happy, right? I’m sure 90s fans would be excited to see them out with Alanis or Candlebox, but they’ll tour when they are ready.

QUOTE

Most likely a ship that was the album called “V.”
(It’s factual that not many enjoyed that album, but how dare we ever say anything negative).

Thanks! Good to know people are talking about them. I can’t wait to see them at ACL Fest in Austin this fall.

Ohohoh I want to respond as I'm a *prime* candidate for this being a fanatic about them from 96-03ish, was letdown by SFBM on '06, loving The Turn in 2014 (and firmly believe that Shinn ruled as the lead singer after Ed left), and back to being letdown for Local 717 in 2018. That, and it just makes for a good thread.

1. Where did the fans go?
IMO, they've simply moved on. Live peaked with TC and SS (though TDTH got close in the US at #4 and others had moderate success overseas), and never fully recovered. Also, the music industry changes on a dime, so the next new hotness came along.

That and a lack of social media presence has whittled their fanbase down to the core. Also, age. The fans of TC and SS were likely mostly in their late teens and early 20's in the early 90's. We're all in our mid 40's now and I'm sure have found other bands to fill the void that Live left behind in addition to life, families, full time jobs, and now the worst pandemic in quite a long while.

2. Did these fans delete their social media feeds of Live?
I haven't, but Live doesn't exactly post much, so they're easy to forget if they're not in the public eye. I wonder who runs their social media pages anyway. Posting every few weeks about random Live related things isn't the way to retain a fanbase. I want ECCP to post and interact with the fans, rather than whomever is running the show right now that's probably not even Live. I don't want to interact with the social media team. I want to interact with Live.

Some ideas for free: Conduct a monthly AMA. Do a FB Live or Insta stream. Make a Twitch account like countless other musicians and fart around while interacting with fans. There are countless social things they could do to stay relevant in music and interact with fans, but they also don't owe us a thing, so here we are.

3. Are they gone forever never to return?
I don't know. Live will come back sooner than later in some fashion, but again, only the core fans will likely be around to notice or care. It also depends on how much marketing their label does for the new music, and how much their social presence changes to support said content. It's complicated.

4. If Live releases an album or tours in 2021 or 2022, will those people not go to the shows or buy the music?
If it's anything like Local 717, I don't know that I'll buy their next effort, but they've also had me since 1996. We're core Live fans and are waiting for literally anything to come out of the Live camp. We're not fairweather casual music listening fans. I should ask my best friend who is a very casual music listener. I bet you $5 he'll listen to it once on Spotify, if he remembers to after I tell him it's out, and then he'll move on.

I don't know if I'll go to their next show. It really depends on where it's at, who's playing with them, and seeing what the setlist is like. If it's the same 12 songs I've been hearing on their last 3 tours, I'm probably going to pass. We'll see. Tickets aren't cheap, dealing with traveling and parking sucks, and now, Covid concerns.

5. Will those former fans be boycotting everything Live related?
I'm not boycotting anything by Live. Boycotting is a very negative term more related to protests and the like. I simply have seen their music quality decline in recent years and will choose to purchase their next content if it meets my standards of what I believe Live can achieve. I want them to release more music like what was on BOP, The Turn, and even The Gracious Few. If it's like Local 717 or SFBM, that's a hard pass.

6. I am trying to understand what Live ship was sailing that they jumped off.
I had one foot out the door with SFBM, but then I was back in with both feet for The Turn. Then they kicked Shinn out, had their band drama, got back together, took years to release a very meh EP with Local 717, and haven't really done much to show they give a crap since, so they reap what they sow. If they don't care, why should I? If they do care, I'm not seeing it, and I say that as someone that's looking for literally any excuse to support them.

Yes, excellent answers to those questions. Bob just threw bombs everywhere.
We are a little cult following of Līve now… their hardcore base, just clinging and hanging on for anything from them. To be poked fun at for still being a Līve fan (in my experience) really sucks. There is nothing wrong with wishing better for and from Līve. But to be told you are basically an ungrateful person for wishing for better, for comparisons to other bands, or not liking an album, a setlist, or a direction they’ve went, is extreme. For the same reasons, to be told to move on, boycott, delete, unfollow (what’s the quote from Gruno?, because “Līve causes us so much personal distress” or whatever he said, is utterly ridiculous. And before it gets brought up again, NO! -Līve doesn’t owe any fan a damn thing & can do/not do whatever makes them happy. But as Bob said, they have to reap what they sow for that. As I said initially, the consequences for that.
In the meantime, I’ll be here waiting for what Līve decides and to talk about my opinions if it. That’s what fans do. They actually talk. It’s part of what makes this whole love of music a special thing.
