QUOTE(Hoodstock @ Oct 10 2020, 1:45 am) *
An election for president should also not be decided by the same 4-5 states every cycle. There are red states,, blue states,, and then states like Florida that get to decide every election for the country. That is a broken system. Why is so much power given to a handful of states through this system?

QUOTE(AManHasNoName @ Oct 13 2020, 6:15 am) *
Like I said in the previous post, the reason for the electoral college is so that a few populous states can't dictate policy for the rest of the country. That is a good thing, not a bad thing. If you don't agree that's fine. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

AManHasNoName: do you accept that the electoral college system, whilst stopping some populous states from having undue influence, still gives arguably too much influence to a small amount of other random states? And if so, is your contention that this is better because those states at least swing? Whereas California would always be Democrat.

(Outsider looking in, obv. We've got our own problems this side of the pond.)

We can agree on that! The electoral college is gerrymandering at its finest.

QUOTE(AManHasNoName @ Oct 13 2020, 1:15 am) *

Do you believe that the majority is always right by virtue of being the majority?

Who says the majority is wrong? You may not agree with the outcome, but that is a definition of Democracy - control of an organization or group by the majority of its members.

The definition is not the control of an organization or group by members, based on a winner take all points system determined by the state which they reside.

Must watch TV and half of the population upset!

Don't be suprised if Biden wins the popular vote of the people by a large margin but loses the election to the minority of voters through the electoral college after a Trump lawsuit challenging the results is supported by his newly appointed Supreme Court justices.

Dear America,

Please don’t vote for four more years of cancerous, post-truth insanity.

Respectfully,

Biden will win the popular vote by at least 5%, probably closer to 8%.

Electoral college will be closer because Biden’s margins won’t be as big in Pennsylvania, Florida, and other swing states. But he will still win. Biden will win MI, WI, PA, FL, and NV. AZ and NC will be close and I’d say Biden wins each by 1%. OH, TX, and GA are close but go for Trump by under 5%. One state no one expects to be competitive is (think MO or NE) but ultimately votes as expected and doesn’t matter in the end.

Main question is timing. If Biden gets enough votes in my first set of states by Tuesday evening we’ll know he’s the winner by the time we wake up Wednesday. If they are close and ballot counting takes a while then we may not know til the weekend.

Some talk lately of Trump’s plan to declare victory tomorrow night if he leads in the in person balloting. But I’m thinking it won’t come to that as Biden will simply have the votes that it makes him the clear winner.

Bonus picks: Democrats recapture the Senate and build on their House majority.

Looking like Biden might hit 270 but Trump will follow it up with legal challenges...

and he's stacked the courts with people he believes are loyal to him. Though things are looking good for biden, Trump has positioned himself to stay put despite the will of the people.

Additionally, if anyone betrays trump and denies him the ability to negate the election then they will face thousands of supporters who are willing to issue death threats based on their beliefs. Scary times.

Looks like my predictions (and many of the polls) were pretty off. Although the course of events is going somewhat as expected with Trump having leads on election night and then watching those erode as mail in ballots are counted. But the overall closeness of the states is a true surprise.

Most likely Biden does win in the end though, but the blue wave clearly didn’t materialize.

It's fantastic - We are seeing christians abandoning trump out of anger that he didn't make it. Trump will likely exit claiming it was stolen and he will open a tv channel and continue to do rallies for the trumpers. I just hope he will not run again in 2024. Leave room for Kanye man!

Did anyone have inciting a riot against his own government or pardoning personal friends, political allies, and famous rappers on their Trump Disaster bingo sheets?
