While Loy doesn't bother me, I can say I very much agree with your post and understand where you're coming from. Did you like 717?- I can't remember. I'm just curious if you'd feel differently about Loy if you like(d) LL, Giver, & Brother. Because maybe that's why what he's doing doesn't bother me (as you say, can't blame him). At the live shows I don't even notice he's there.

You guys already know what bothers me the most, and that's the lack of commitment from Līve since the reunion; to themselves and the fans. That's all on ECCP.

I think 717 ranges from so-so to pretty bad. Like I said, I don't blame Loy, I blame Live.
If the EP was awesome, I would certainly enjoy Loy more.

But as long as Loy is the principal songwriter, I'd still call it Loyve because,

it's the same as how TGF or Shinn is not really Live - They are CCP with other good elements.

Live is special and unique.
For some reason, Mental Jewelry, Throwing Copper, SS, TDTH, and V all have it, and the performances during these eras certainly have it.
- whereas TGF and The Turn don't have it, even though those projects rock.

Ed doing what he used to do is irreplaceable, probably even by Ed today.

As far as Loy on Stage - I totally hear his input. It's gross.

He's crap compared to what Ed and Chad used to do with their guitars.

Loy is just so middle of the road average as a performer, and he's not in the background.
They're featuring him on stage.

I didn't mind it for Ed's solo work because that music is merely adult contemporary. But making Live more cookie cutter and soft just ruins the band.

Here's how we end the debate:

Does this look like something that Loy could do at the 3:54 mark?

He definitely is. And Bremang, I wasn’t really debating. I think you’re right (except for the V album part lol). I was just choosing to put some blockers on my eyes and ears when it comes to Loy. His input definitely is just another way the band is choosing not to put forth 100%. Līve is a special and unique band (preach Bremang!) and we recognize it, and that’s why we keep hanging on wishing for the days of old like that 3:54 mark. It’s still there in them deep inside. Will Līve ever rekindle that flame again?

If their new output is as bad as their last EP, and if their concerts are as boring as they were last year with the exact same setlist.....what's the point? The band, at best, is a greatest hits concert, performed by a singer who had his balls sliced off around 20 years ago.

Live is tainting the memory at this point. I loved the band and they were my #2 or #3 favorite all time 15 or so years ago...not any longer. I'm thankful for MJ, TC, SS and TDTH. Put out the deluxe editions of SS and TDTH (especially TDTH, there's so much good stuff there), release MTV Unplugged, and call it a day, fellas.

Oh right, I had heard 717 but I did not known this Loy guy had written any of it. I assumed CCP just didn't give a fuck about it and hadn't tried very hard. One of them sounded like an unused Ed solo song as well.

It's sad, because both their major songwriting projects outside of Live with Ed were solid, and proof they are perfectly capable of producing quality music. So all I can conclude is that they don't really want to be in a band with Ed, even now.

With all the progress being made on a vaccine, I’m betting the Australian tour has a legit chance of coming off.

I’m not as hopeful. I really miss concerts, but I don’t think a safe vaccine will be ready for this tour. I think the “progress” we hear being made is a political spin.
Let’s see.

Agreed. In Trumps world "this will all just go away, like things go away". In the real world vaccines require testing and time. Here's a reality check.

Concerts seem to be in the same boat as theaters right now, except I feel they're able to get rolling much quicker when things get better.

Also my first ever Live show. I had what I thought at the time was a pretty decent audio bootleg of that show, I have to dig it out and give it a listen again soon.

I don’t see an upcoming album from Līve anywhere in the lists.

Even the Squirrel Nut Zippers are putting out a new album soon. shrug.gif

If the audio from your boot is better than the video sound, someone should replace it on the video with your higher quality recording

Not at all. I haven’t actually listened to SNZ, I will go out on a limb and say Līve is the better band here. I do have a lot of questions about Līve’s intent, commitment, resources (Think Loud, management, label (?), production), honesty (or lack thereof) with the fans, their goals, and on and on. Yes, lots of questions, but all we have scheduled is a Hynes led podcast with CG. Two peas in the pod.

Same on all of the above. I will go out on a limb and say that the CG podcast will not be informative at all.
