This is pretty cool - whoever put this up didn't do a perfect job, but this is way better than any other attempt I've ever heard.

I noticed some extra harmonizing in the final minute that I NEVER noticed in 25 years.

That is.. funny and weird. Only now it occurs to me how many breaks there are.

How do they do this anyway? Must be some pretty advanced tweaking.

I never noticed those harmony parts either. Maybe somebody can do this for Gas Hed and we can finally figure out what they're saying in the background.

You would need the original multi-track files to extract the background lyrics. The only reason why we have the multi-tracks was because Lightning Crashes was used in Rock Band (as Bremang mentioned).

Nobody is able to extract this from a CD recording.

Separated tracks for I Alone and Lightning Crashes can be found here:

You probably need better than a multitrack like this with Gas Head, honestly - it's so quiet in the mix. This just sounds like a badly filtered acoustic mix, with the guitar popping in and out like that. That said, it is totally possible to isolate parts of a CD recording with careful use of EQ and filters. Maybe not to this quality, but perhaps enough to highlight the lyrics in question.
