I bet you it will. no.gif

Phucking sad.

Just as sad as the only two Līve songs my local alternative radio station ever has ever played for the last decade and a half is LC and I Alone. -These type of voters is exactly why.

It's not close to be their best song. I mean it's a good song, but WD is better. WD has a sequence of weird chords during the verse that they never quite used after that, and I just like when the rhytmic section takes over with Live. WD does it. LC also at the end but still,.

LC is a song made of 5 chords. Yes, less is more but it also doesn't serve the band when your biggest hit has that kind of easy cheesy structure. But the shift between the second verse and the bridge is nice, when again the rhytmic section takes over.

I like both, but disappointed WD lost.

It’s just the stereotypical song, and it’s upsetting.

Like, name an ice cream flavor, and all the flavors out there and possible answers, and someone says “vanilla.” Uuuhhhhgggg

Music is very (very, very) subjective, which makes a tournament like this fun overall, but can present frustrating moments, like when subjectively "good" songs lose over subjectively "lesser" songs. You may think LC deserves the top spot. I wanted LJ to take it all. Now I have to settle for, in my opinion, a lesser song to be (again, subjectively) the best. What's left in the final four? LC, STD, IA, and whatever's winner from tomorrow's matchup. I'm hoping it's RTTW so this isn't just the "Best of TC" tournament.

I can't explain it to you other than the feeling I get when I listen to these songs. Is LC a good song? Subjectively, yes. Am I tired of it? Yes. Did it put Live on the map? Absolutely.

To Voodoo Lady's point from earlier, LC is the song where I get 5 minutes to run to the bathroom, get a drink and check out the merch booth.

Is W,D a good song? Yes. Am I tired of it? Nope. Not in 20+ years. Best ending song they've got by far. I also love the messaging of the song, the entire melody is unique and all the parts are played in perfect harmony, and the end makes me want to jump around and break stuff. I leave Live shows far happier overall when this song is played at the end.

No one is wrong in their answer, so LC could very well take it all. Will that bum me out? Absolutely. To me, out of Live's large catalog of songs, LC isn't the best one by far, or even in my Top 10. To someone else, it could be their number one.

I think my cynicism must have been lost in the text, lol. I don't think it deserves the top spot at all. I'm almost as sick of it as I am of I Alone. I meant, why would anyone expect it not to win? It was always going to be that or I Alone.

If it were up to me, it would be Meltdown or Don't Wait.

For the love of all that is holy, The Dolphin’s Cry!!!!!!

Since I always skip RTTW, I even went just now and listened to it for reference. It’s still terrible, and makes me wanna run to the toilet. Can someone please explain the infatuation with this song? I already know Ed can write his butt off, please don’t come back at me with lyrics. What else makes this song good in some peoples’ eyes? In my opinion it is full on Ed-solo. Maybe the guitar work? That isn’t bad... but Ed completely ruins it at the beginning “OH” “OH” this and that, Adam and Eve living down the street, and then... the end with his falsetto... it’s creepy Uncle Ed. Help me understand.

Run to the Water.

It's really close, and tomorrow I could easily say TDC instead. But right here, right now, it's RTTW. I dig the poetry of it, the uplifting feel and the love and light within it. I dunno, man. It's an Ed song, yeah, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad song. Certainly not during the TDTH era where his Ed songs were at their absolute very best.

RTTW, all day, every day. I love the musicality of it, the uplifting messaging in the lyrics ("burnt to the core but not broken" is some deep shit), and a rare CT solo to top it off.

Ed kinda killed TDC for me when he proudly exclaimed that TDC was about sex (pretty sure he said "fscking", which made it worse) before the start of it. I didn't need him to blatantly tell me that. Let me come to my own conclusion.

Any and all insight is appreciated, Merica. As Bob said earlier, it’s all subjective and individualized, and I just want to hear and understand the appeal. I’ve just always liked more edgy and dark, I guess. Then again, I fell in love with Mental Jewelry when it came out. But I guess you can say that one has edge to it. I did go to college with Jars of Clay, their Flood song (water, water, water) and the whole CCM explosion was there, as the university had the Christian contemporary music major. I guess that four year experience just ran that type of music in the ground for me.

RTTW.

Chiming in on what’s going to win I don’t think it’ll be LC. It’s winning but the margins aren’t there. It’s a popular song but clearly isn’t a unanimous favorite across the board. I’ll put my money on I Alone.

Could we eliminate both and put back LJ or WD? Neither of these songs is better.
