Thought this might be a fun exercise.
Please vote for what you think are the two best consecutive tracks which open and close two back to back full albums. I decided to include Awake: Best of.. as it counts as a full album, and makes the poll more interesting. Would be great to see discussion backing your choices.

Good question and tough to answer. None of these are songs that I really love, most are the kind you don’t think about and might just skip over.

I voted for Horse/Rattlesnake. Horse is different and a unique add to Live’s catalog, a neat overall song. A great way to end an album, at least for a hidden track. Rattlesnake starts off great and sets the tone well for SS. Plus it’s just a great song.

I could have flipped to 10,000 Years / DAOC as those songs are both solid but the uniqueness of Horse gives that combo the edge to me. None of the other album combos really compare.

I'm choosing 10,000/DAOC because 10,000 is a great closer, and DAOC, well, yeah. Come on.

If I didn't dislike Horse so much (though I agree it's different, and back when they played it live on the TC tour they had fun with it on stage with a slightly different stage setup with couches and a different small kit for CG to play with, I believe, some mallets), I'd have gone with Horse/Rattlesnake, because Rattlesnake is a fantastic song that (and Ecstatic Fanatic nails it here) "starts off great and sets the tone well for SS. Plus it's a great song." Perfectly said.

GHGW is a great closing song as well, but I'm not a fan of Heaven, so I couldn't make that choice.

I like more of their openers than closers on the real studio albums:

Good openers: TDAOC, Rattlesnake, Simple Creed.
Good closers: 10,000, GHGW.

Excellent question, Voodoo Lady!

Ah crap, I forgot The Turn. I did not maliciously leave it off, I promise you. Came back to see if I could edit my poll and add Night of Nights / Sirens Call, but I don’t see that I can. Sorry about that, and I really apologize if it would change anyone’s vote so far.

Gas Hed / The Dolphin's Cry for me.

Horse / Rattlesnake and 10,000 Years / TDAOC are both great combos too and do just as well at capturing the opening/closing atmospheres of their respective albums, but I think Gas Hed and TDC are slightly stronger individual tracks on top of that.

I almost went this way too. I settled on 10,000 Years and TDAOC, mostly on the rawness of the former, but also it's a really good sonic transition for them, with songs I can always listen to. I sorta have to be in "ok, fine" mood for TDC at this point, and that's always been the case with Horse, which were the only two other options in my book.

If it were an option, I might have gone with:

Ball and Chain/Pain Lies on the Riverside.

Who voted for Night of Nights / Sirens call? That’s an interesting combo. Don’t get me wrong I would have been tempted for that if it was an option when I voted, but some pretty different dynamics there.

Also interested who my partner who also voted for Horse and Rattlesnake is. Good taste!

I voted for Gas Hed / DC. Gas Hed is amazing and DC is a solid song. Was on the fence with a that and Dance with You / Simple Creed.

I don't hate either..in fact kind if like till you came around. Probably more of a Shinn song and one in which he doesn't need to scream as much as most of the album.

Love Lounge was weird....it is different, trying to sound actual. It hits and misses, like most of local 717. Like sone parts of the songs, dislike others and lyrics don't help at all. As a more melodic than lyrics listener I usually don't care much about lyrics, but Ed really outplayed himself in terms of uninspired lines.

It would be before than Hero of love/deep enough remix/ Heaven for me at least.

10,000 Years/DAOC. The two best albums in my opinion, so I went with those.
