Ohhhh, interesting. You know what, when you factor in the Big Bang and piano versions of TSUFL it just might take the cake. Hmmmmmm. Mirror Song, though. All those things Voodoo Lady said about it are true.

But ya know, I'll go TSFUL. Mostly on the strength of its alt versions, tbh. It was a more interesting song that in some ways is a symbol of the way demo/released TDTH are different.

Mirror Song.

Originally I was going to go with TSUFL, as that's a great pop rock-ish song (the live version is much rockier though), and the alt versions that most people won't ever hear take that song to another level. However, when I think back to why I fell for this band in the first place, it's for everything that Voodoo Lady perfectly encapsulated in her post. The boys were hungry back then. The music was dynamic. The lyrics were powerful and thought provoking.

Damn good challenge today.

TSUFL.

Agreed this was a tougher match up but TSUFL is from the timing I personally liked Live’s sound the best. Musically and lyrically they were great. Mirror Song is good and I’d give it the edge against a lot of other songs but just not against this one.

Can I give half a vote to each? Lol. I think I have to vote for TSUFL. They totally became a caricature immediately after the acoustic performance of this, but I'm still voting for it because of that amazing acoustic version, and also the Big Bang version.

This song makes me think of "Pilgrimage to the Southern Stars."

Pilgrimage to the Southern Stars is a great album. Pretty much prefer every song version on that versus TDTH (which is also great)

Selling the Drama

However, I’m admittedly tired of it... when it pops up in my shuffle, I’ve been hitting skip. Also am tired of it in the setlist. Operation Spirit would be a perfect swap. The Distance, I skip all the time, and always have. The beginning, lucky penny part annoys the heck outta me.

Selling the Drama, yeah. It suffers from overexposure, but still wins this particular matchup for me.

I take the distance.

I know I will be in the loser's side (again) but the first time I heard it, it really felt fresh, different. Ok it's a bit puppy, but in a good kind of way with how the chords flow ( a bit like RTTW) and the harpsychord solo. Hard to get this song right onstage because of the lower voice that Ed doesn't do anyway, but the long jam in it making Pat slap it a bit is fun too. I could do without the 'Hold on for something sweeter' though.

When seeing Live for the first time in 7 years during the Summerland tour, I didn't want STD to be in the 7 songs set. It sadly was. It's a good song, but like some said, I had enough of it probably and in a 7 songs set, they have other things to show.

The Distance.

I can't believe I just said that, and agree that I'm going to be in the minority. However! When looking at what they've done with the song (like what alexou said), I feel it has blossomed into something more than the album version. Selling the Drama has been played exactly the same, just like the album version, since forever, and I'm really, really tired of it.

If I'm playing the album versions, I skip both, but from a live perspective, they've treated The Distance right, so it gets my vote.
