As Badman said...TDC was probably a good single choice, but a way too simplistic song...a bit like they did with the turn with The Way around is through, but in the last case, it was a very bad choice.
Freaks is a very funny but dark at the same time song, unusual for them. It gets my vote.

Freaks was also a good single!

I mean...after LJ the song I had the more feeling with was Insomnia. The vocal harmony at the end is amazing. The lyrics are probably too weird to be a single, but I loved it. What if they chose Hero? That would have been a 1-2 punch combo and Turn my head after to please the pop and lovers crowds.

Our pop-rock station played Freaks a little (but not LJ) and then Turn my head played to death. Rattlesnake got even a bit of airplay in rock stations in Quebec.

All in all I don't know if Freaks was a good choice, but interesting, yes.

The record company must have felt WTF with that record at some point, no?

I think music was pretty out-there in general when Samadhi came out. I remember radio DJs in Arizona complaining that the lyrics to the whole album "sucked." When I got the record, I immediately understood completely what they meant and disagreed entirely with their assessment, lol.

A prominent Australian music critic/DJ (Richard Kingsmill) on a national radio station (Triple J) described the lyrics to "The Dolphin's Cry" as "high-school poetry". That was the last time Live was played on that radio station.

I don't remember Secret Samadhi getting a lot of love on radio back then. They turned around later on Lakini’s Juice when they suddenly decided it was golden, but never played much of anything else. Maybe Freaks a few times with a lame joke about Geraldo.

Lightning Crashes.

I don’t like this song nearly as much as most but I can’t deny it’s probably the song that made Live as big as they were.

What surprises me more, if I am reading this right, is that LC was only ranked sixth in the initial voting. For a song that I expected to run away with the tournament starting at sixth is a bit surprising.

Gas Hed Goes West. No question. I'm so sick of LC as well, and GHGW holds a pretty emotional place for me, as it was one of the first songs I heard off the album *on the radio* when our local station played a bunch of songs from it (or it was the whole thing; I don't remember) before release. When I heard it, I was blown away. This was their follow-up to TC? I'm sold.

I'm still impressed with that song (and just about every one off the album, except Freaks), to this day.

Prediction: LC takes the victory, but by the looks of the page of votes I looked at on FB, it might be close.

I'm also tired of LC. I love Gas Hed, it's one of my favorite songs. I started a thread about it a while back and still don't know what is said in the background about turning sharp corners. That was the song of my senior year road trip for spring break. It's special.

My initial thought was to vote for GH, right now that would be my choice but when I really examined it and thought about all my years following Live I had to say TC.

Gas Hed. It’ll lose, but fuck it. Amazing song that deserves more recognition.
