I do think it’s a rather odd match up, and Spew is not what I would have pitted against WD.
But I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s disrespectful, sheesh. shrug.gif

I love White, Discussion, but I don’t think it would even make my top ten fave Līve songs. Now I have to write those down....

Edit: And now that I’ve started writing them down, there is a difference between top favorite songs and their best songs. I’m going to have two lists!

First round seeding was determined by votes.

I realize that there aren't any rules for this tournament except to pick your favorite of the two, but I'm wondering if I should include "live" versions considerations as well as the studio tracks. Several of their songs have been forever transformed because of the way they were played live, versus their studio take.

How are you judging? Solely from the studio version, or are you taking into account the live versions?

For this round, WD would still win because it's how every one of their concerts should end, and I love that they all go batshit crazy at the end of the song. Hold Me Up still feels like their bastard child, even though it's finally official.

Had HMU been in the rotation since the TC/SS era and they gave it love, my opinion may have changed, but again, it depends on how I decide to vote.

I’m judging solely on studio versions (so far). What I’m wrestling with is, I have started to over analyze, and second guess myself. Especially after today, when everyone else chose WD. I started thinking, “Wait.... Should I pick the “best” song of the two, or my favorite song of the two?” Does anyone else even agree that there is such a thing as a better song versus favorite song, or am I just going quarantine crazy? nervous.gif What happens with me a lot is, I get tired of some of their songs because they are played so much, and are so standard in the setlist. Hold Me Up still has its newness because it was elusive for so long, and have never been able to hear it live. Therefore, I favor it, and instantly went with it. I’m think I’m going to stop over thinking though, and continue to go with my gut feeling, and just answer quickly.

For me it is usually which song did I like the most when I liked it the most, if that makes sense. I Alone is my favorite Live song, but I’ll admit that it’s been a while since I’ve actually listened to it since it’s something I’ve listened to so many times over the years. But I’ll still probably choose it over anything it gets matched against simply because at its peak it was on constant rotation in my CD player.

Or when in doubt I just choose the song the jumps out at me the most as “my favorite” between the two choices.

No, cause there's endless versions and abstract considerations for each song for every person. Just make your own determination and vote.

White, Discussion is the best Live song.

I don't think it's better than Good Pain. Other than that, I agree with this.

There is absolutely a better song versus a favorite song. I have far less favorite songs than I do "better" songs. Most of these matches will be which is the better song versus which is my favorite song.

I think that's what I have to do as well, which makes my life easier. My only problem now is I feel I need to justify my answers, but I don't have to if I don't want to. smile.gif

Lakini's Juice is easily the better song and my favorite of the two by a long shot. So I'm voting for Simple Creed just to be contrary.

It should have been Lakini's Juice vs White, Discussion...

In a later round, it may very well be.
