Very surprised it took this long for someone to think of Loyve.

But with that said, why all the hate for Zak? He’s a credited songwriter because he did the solos. Chad hasn’t wanted to do solos since The Gracious Few. Ed doesn’t want to play electric guitar during shows. I don’t think it’s that crazy they have Zak doing solos, invited him to record with them, and gave him a writing credit when he came up with a solo they liked.

He's an uninspired studio musician. He didn't just write the solos. But this brings up a few questions -
Why don't we let any of the other 800,000 nobodys for hire into the songwriting process?
Why are we even debating why someone outside of Live should be part of Live?
Who says Chad doesn't want to do solos? Aside from how the band has phoned it in in general.

I think he made that clear several times himself.

I think those were V ‘outtakes’ or unused material from that era.

My guess would be, new single early 2021. New album May/June to go along with a big summer tour.

Your guess is probably right.
Again, I get frustrated with Live’s snail pace of doing everything. I know I’m always singing the band Tesla’s praises, but it’s worth mentioning, because “Live has us waiting like <insert the skeleton meme here.>” I saw the last show of Tesla’s smaller headlining tour this last September 28th (they had been extensively on the road before that as opener). Since that last show, they have taken a “break,” played on the Monsters of Rock Cruise this winter, then had some more stand alone shows in the states in February. They have also promoted the hell out of new Five Man London Jam (acoustic) that’s dropping. Guitarist Frank Hannon dropped solo stuff and promotes that. Guitarist Dave Rude is constantly “practicing” and posting on social media. He also works on solo stuff/sings. The bands social media outlets have a posting pretty much every day, and now they are gearing up for a summer tour with Alice Cooper and Lita Ford. Live is the laziest band in rock. I know it’s 100% their choice to be, but it’s painful to watch. The things they could be doing!!! bomb.gif

Not familiar with Tesla, but sounds like they have a passion for music. Live simply does music.

Haven’t a listened to this yet, but going to post my initial thoughts.
1) Perhaps the album will have the elusive 10,000 Cups.
2) Hopefully it drops late 2020. I’m beyond frustrated with their slow crawl of doing things.
3) But, I really, really need for this album to be good.

It would be almost bizarre if it were good, to be honest. It would just be so at odds with the lacklustre EP, half hearted tour setlist and generally glacial pace they've been locked into since the reunion.

Anything can happen, but I don't see any reason to suspect a quality album.

The things that led CCP to rock in TGF and the Turn with Jerry need to meet with Peter Buck and all the things that brought out Ed's smoother vocals in TFATM, and maybe we would end up with an album of tracks akin to Radiant Sea.

with Jerry

I think this is the most important ingredient. I'm ambivalent about whether it necessarily has to be Jerry specifically, but it needs to be produced by someone who knows when something sucks, and isn't afraid to torpedo bad ideas.

I think that Chad did a good job with local 717, but I always believe that an outside producer is never a bad thing. I imagine it would be hard to produce yourself.

I feel the same about movie stars who direct their own films.

That'd fall somewhere between okay, meh, shrug and what's the point.
