it's not really Live at all. Local is a Zak Loy creation/collaboration.

What, do you not think ZL would have played on 10000 Cups if they'd recorded that?

I'm pretty sure Ed is too far gone even for Jerry to help him at this point.

I have not listened to 717 since the day it was released.

Same

You were implying that 717 was like a collection of demos from Live, derived from a formula that Live has put out a number of times. But it's none of that. It's brand new music created by Zak Loy

I don't know if 10000 cups is a Loy song. I think it's different from 717. Definitely was played way before the EP.

The whole thing is not far from most of their output since V. I don't agree that this is the ZL show. He's there, he had input, but it still sounds post-TDTH Live to me. If he hadn't been there, it wouldn't magically sound like Samadhi.

Does it sound like TGF and Live with Shinn?
Does it sound like Flood and the Mercy?
Is Zak Loy the writer of the guitar riffs and in the songwriting credits?

Does Zak actually PLAY ON THE recording with drummers other than Chad?

The chads have no presence. Ed phoned it in. It's the Loy show.

It sounds like BOP and V - like Live, post-1999, and it would still sound that way if Loy weren't playing on it, because that's what they've sounded like for 20 years.

idunno, i kind of draw a distinction between SFBM and The Turn. Doesn't sound the same to me, but I guess it does to you.

That's totally fair - I'll concede it sounds like ECCP post-1999. To be clear, I like the Turn well enough, but I listen to it less than TGF, which I listen to about as much as SFBM. I think both the Turn and TGF suffer from the same issue - their songs don't usually "stick" for me. I would gladly swap Honest Man and Siren's Call for the two covers, though. Those songs stick. Could you imagine?

Appetite and Rodgerton stick for me too. The rest doesn't.

Some of Ed's stuff stuck for a bit but not so much today.

Yeah, there's other songs on both records that I like well enough, but I couldn't sing them from memory. Ed's stuff is about 65/35 for me on the good side.

I think Be A Giver Man and Brother could both have been flat out great songs, but they stayed in shallow water, so to speak (my own water reference, lol). I like 10,000 Cups a lot too, I just don't envision it getting different treatment from the other songs on 717 if they had recorded it. I hope they do record it at some point.

Yes, along with some nausea.
