Few thoughts on the show:

Our Lady Peace put on a good short set. They sounded good and played familiar songs. Would be nice if they toured with Live again.

Bush closed the show. They definitely looked the part of a rock band. Machine Head is a great way to get the set going. I was impressed with energy Gavin has hopping around during the set. He sounded just like he did 25 years ago. Bush played a quiet a few songs I wasn't familiar with. I enjoyed them because Bush was rocking but personally it took a little away from the performance due to lack of familiarity. I haven't followed their new stuff since Razorblade Suitcase. I thoroughly enjoyed the songs I knew.
After this show I'll be checking out more of their stuff for sure.

I have to say I was disappointed with Live. They were alright and if this was my first show I might have enjoyed it, but it wasn't. I've seen what they can do. As you can see in a previous post this show got the crap setlist.

The two acoustic songs totally kill the momentum of the show and bring it down. It wasn't a separate encore like last so it just put the brakes on everything and didn't work. The fact that they are still parading these acoustics out a year later sucks. Seriously, it ruined their show.

The covers weren't a good fit and didn't go well with their music. Lightning Crashes needs to be earlier in the set. Ed also sounded a little off at times because he was singing to high or off key. They were alright, but Live used to be better than alright.

Overall this was a better tour than with Counting Crows. Bush blows CC away and Our Lady Peace was a nice act. Live needs to seriously examine what they are doing and revamp their show.

Always good to read reviews, and I was waiting for yours. I very much agree with all you described here. Last summer was my first time seeing Live (I didn’t stick around for Counting Crows), and I had a much better time at that one, but like you, I know they can do better. How?—Simply years and years of seeing them on T.V. and YouTube.

Because this summer was basically a repeat of last year, with only the addition of the coma-inducing covers, it literally felt like a punch to my gut.

If they tour the states again next summer with STP, as it’s been hinted here (I miss you, Scott), no way in hell will I be going, unless they get their heads on straight and start blowing the roof off the bitch like Bush does.

I heard they sold a whole keg of Throwing Copper beer though so this show was a huge success by any rational account.

I would like to add, for Nick, that the venue was packed full. Gavin even mentioned it and said Sunday night in Detroit is like a Friday night in New York.

I warned you, I instructed you, and I told you what to expect! For a $25 Groupon I really can't say I wouldn't go again, even if they play the same tired set. I'd be frustrated but for that price it was a super cheap night out.

I just can’t do Groupon, but if it works for you, good. If I’m choosing to see a concert, then of course it’s someone I really like, and I just have to be up close. I prefer GA Pit. It’s relatively cheaper, and you get there early, front row. But if there’s no pit, I’m buying a seat the minute they go on sale. Doing that, I don’t think I’ve been farther than row 6 for all the concerts I’ve been to the last couple years. I’m so spoiled.

I missed this comment earlier. I checked everywhere and could not find it for sale. Guessing they didn't reach an agreement with the venue.
