The tour is successful, because they are two popular acts from the 90s, but sonically the bands are very different. I’m just happy that Live is doing well and playing in front of packed houses.

The tour probably is considered "successful" for the casual fan and I am looking forward to seeing them at Jones Beach. That being said, the setlist is complete BS and shows a total disregard for the more-than-casual fan. There is no way you can objectively argue that!

While I have fun seeing Līve last night, I agree the setlist is total B.S. I don’t see how they can justify having the same exact show (with the exception of Iris) as last summer. I bought the NOLA tickets long ago on the hope (other than the 6 or 7 songs they are expected to play) that it would be different. I’d been satisfied if they just would have played Hold Me Up, I mean come on. If Līve happens to add Texas October dates, I will not be going.

Bush has a hits heavy setlist and actually plays 3 less songs than Live.

Bush isn’t my favorite band, Live is. It’s a travesty that Live doesn’t dig deeper into their catalogue. That’s what separates them from every other almost forgotten band of the 90s.

When it comes to them I’m the casual radio listener, and I didn’t recognize every song. Maybe their set is shorter because Gavin spends what seemed like 10-15 minutes during one song walking through the crowd? Not sure if he does that each show, just a guess.

Bush also doesn't play any dumb fucking covers instead of their brand new release. Although I guess HMU is not even that new anymore.

Dam are Otter Creek and Iris are pretty deep in the catalog, and they are playing a god laden 3 band show.

-No Dam at Otter Creek (noooo!), so no Ed entering through the audience, and no digital screen backdrop. Is this because it was an outside concert?

I saw Foxwoods and Gilford, and both sets opened with DAOC. Also, Gilford was an outdoor show and they had the video screens. So idk. The thread on that show has my videos.

QUOTE
-Līve was billed last, and should have closed the show & didn’t.

Actually the pattern seems to be that the band billed first is the closing act. Foxwoods and Gilford were billed as "Bush and Live," and Bush closed. Boston, 2 nights before Gilford, was "Live and Bush," and Live closed.

QUOTE

I’d never seen Bush in concert before, and all these years I’ve just been neutral about them. But OMG, they came out and the crowd who was quite demure for Līve absolutely lit up, went crazy for Bush. Gavin had the moves, and was sex on two legs.

Here's my take, based on the 2 shows I saw.

Bush puts on a more integrated show. The light show, for example, is hugely important. It accentuates and punctuates the music. It's more flashy and a lot of strobe. My yt channel also has Everything Zen and Machinehead, and they use a ton of fiery reds and orange.

In contrast, Live's lighting is about setting mood and atmosphere. The emphasis is on the music. They use a generally cooler color palette of blues and violets, which tend to evoke sadder, subdued emotions. Even when they warm it up with oranges and reds, such as the chorus of Selling the Drama, it reverts to the cooler colors during the verses.

He did it at both shows that I saw. At Foxwoods he went damn near on a loop around the entire orchestra. Literally went right next to me.

I personally have never been a fan of singers going into the crowd. If you're not in a position to see them, you just hear their voice, see a vague notion that a bunch of people elsewhere in the crowd are seeing something amazing, and you get to watch the band play the song onstage to a disembodied voice.

I would rate Bush under Our Lady Peace, and even under Counting Crows from 2018.

I'm sorry, but Counting Crows is on of the worst live bands I have ever seen, and that includes local cover bands. If Bush is worse there would have been more talk about it already.

I did see the original lineup when they first hit big and they were really good.

Thank you. So now my next guess is, it was the rainy weather prior to the concert which caused them to axe the video screen & DAOC.

Very insightful and legitimate theory on the lighting affecting the crowd’s mood.
I’ll check out your videos.
