I wonder if they only released a limited number of this version of the CD to capitalize on the recent American Idol/Ellen performances. I can see the dualdisk being released shortly with the Live/Chris version of Mystery featured.

you may have a point. hope the label has something up its sleeve even though i'm not big on duets. guess if it equates to more sales, good for them.

Live currently sit below the 50th position with sales below 7,000 units (with 40% of all reported sales in).

Ouch, not good.

But they've still sold more than P.O.D. did with their latest album, which debuted at #9 back in January.

Not surprising, seeing as how I haven't seen a single advertisement for SFBM in retail ads (Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, etc.). And believe me, I have looked.

I would think that they'd get a decent jump in the final 60 percent of sales. If not Live needs a new label pronto. I am still hoping for at least 30,000 sales in the US.

In fact, in the e-mail newsletters I've received from the various indie music stores that I subscribe to, the release date for SFBM is unanimously listed as 6/13. heynow.gif

You guys have to remember that with the release date changing so close to street that most of the Sunday Ads would have already been printed by the time the release was bumped up to 6/6. Promote it yourself though - that's the best way to get folks aware of the release - get online and let people know!

Also, the chart that Dan is quoting from is a legit chart, but it's not going to match the Nielsen/Soundscan chart (Billboard publishes) that you're going to see as the "final" tally. It's another leading music magazine chart, but it does differ from the other slightly.

Tomorrow is the big day when the numbers are published so it'll be interesting.

I agree and I did do a lot of promoting myself. However, whatever us fans can do pales to what a major label like Epic is capable of doing. Moving the date around May 9 to June 13 then to June 6th, effectively killed this record. Hoping Mystery with Chris can save it, but without a strong push from Epic, I'm not sure that is going to happen.

I've been promoting it, Nick. Covered the town in appropriate spots with your flyer! Purchased a few copies and sent to people I know who, if they like it, will promote in their areas of the country. E-mailed the stations to request Mystery.

I've been checking all of the local stores when I've been out. All released SFBM on the 6th but one. Also, Best Buy must have been thinking originally of the release date of the 13th. They had about 20 copies of SFBM in on the 6th and the only other Live cd in the place was a copy of Awake. I went in Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to see that they now have over 40 copies of SFBM and they beefed up the other Live releases, likely hoping the sales for them will be good, too. They have at least five previous titles with as many as ten copies per title . The Live section was only one one small cd section before and it now goes from top to bottom in the "L" rock section. Either they are expecting potential sales or the original 20 sold well, thus the additions of the older titles, too.

I bought mine in a Coconuts music store, and they didn't have any promotion at all. In fact, it wasn't even with the new releases, it was just in the regular section in the L's.

My biggest fear is the label dumping them and we never hear from them again. I imagine they could of course produce and release their own stuff, but perhaps they could drop off the face of the earth.

Or we get Ed's solo album "Love, Love, Water and Love".

LOL...that friggen made me really laugh out loud.

I don't want them to break up either. However, even if this CD fails to sell they could stay together for as long as they want. They are a successful touring band and have enough hit songs to flourish for years. They could even sign with an independent album (Hootie, Gin Blossoms, Collective Soul, Better Than Ezra just to name more than a few). As long as they are happy with what they are doing, they can continue for a long time.

Epic can't end Live, only the band can make that decision.

With nearly 85 percent of retailers in, Live's new album has sold fewer than 17,000 copies and as of now not in the Top 50 Billboard albums of the week. I can't believe Epic let our boys down like that. It is just baffling.

Final tally.....not in the HitsdailyDouble Top 50 albums and sales figure not above 17,000 for the week. Epic killed the album by putting it on Red distribution. To not get a sales figure as high as Awake is just sad. I can't believe Epic messed with our favorite band and killed their marketability in the US. Ugh...
