I’ve been seeing their name pop up a lot and finally decided to click on a You Tube vid. I watched “When the Curtain Falls” on Jimmy Fallon. I’ve watched it 8 times in a row now. My thoughts... “They are very Led Zep” “Hippies smile.gif “ Am I going to be able to take this singer seriously” “ They are young” “How long have they been around” “How late am I to the party?” “They SHRED!”

Needless to say, I’m intrigued enough to buy their album. I think I’m a new fan. I haven’t ran across any one new I’ve liked in a while.

They are a local band from Michigan so you hear the name a lot here. They did a run of sold out show in Detroit and were just on SNL.

That song about some curtain kicks some serious ass.

Could not make myself listen to any other songs though.

After starting this thread, I purchased both their EP and LP & I’ve been listening constantly in my car. They have many great songs in addition to “When the Curtain Falls”... “Highway Tune”, “Safari Song”, “Edge of Darkness”, “Black Smoke Rising” to name a few. I’ve done some homework and I can see how people are either going to love ‘em or hate ‘em. They are still pretty green, as their SNL performance wasn’t the best, but I am really rooting for them. It will be interesting to see them evolve, as Līve did after MJ. They are hinting at releasing another album this year. I hope they don’t run out of steam and that the singer doesn’t wreck his voice. My fave is the guitarist, Jake. He’s so good. Nice to see their old souls right now in an era of hip hop.

I actually like the EP better than the album. Safari Song is amazing. Last 2 songs on it are covers. If you guys give it a few listens you won't be disappointed.

It's been great to hear actual rock again.

Seriously, if you haven't heard these guys find From The Fires and listen to the whole thing for a day. GVF is amazing!

I second that. Every single track on FTF is great, no skips.

I love every single song by these guys! But I have to admit. I couldn’t shake that feeling that it just doesn’t like like they are for real. How can 3 brothers and a friend put together two albums of incredible music that in my personal opinion rivals the best of Led Zeppelin? And they are only between 19-23 years old. I mean how is that even possible?? And their SNL performance left me a little concerns because their “costumes” seemed corny and the stage performance seemed awkward. So I have been skeptical about what these “kids” are all about. But yet I have been enjoying their albums over the last several months more than any other group.

So I went to see them 2 weeks ago in concert, and I’ve got to say..... I WAS ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY! That GVF concert was one of the best damn shows I’ve ever seen! They jammed, and did solos and put on a full-on rock show and it was incredible. The musicianship was off the charts. The vocals are so great! I highly recommend recommend seeing them if you can.

Glad you gave them a listen. Haven't gotten to see them in concert yet. Hoping they add a home show to the tour at some point. The problem here is that they sell out so fast it's tough to get. I think they played 3 straight nights last time and all the tickets were gone immediately.

Found some cool footage of them on an Early Greta Van Fleet You Tube channel. Another 2014 video here has them with a different drummer. 16 and 15 year old kids at that time. What a great band.

My favorite performance of theirs so far. What. a. voice. The little crowd just sits there, not comprehending what they are seeing.

Their new album, The Battle At Garden’s Gate, dropped today. I don’t think I’ve looked more forward to any album dropping than this since Secret Samadhi. Been listening all day and GVF did not disappoint. ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL. My favorite so far is Broken Bells (subject to change). Do yourself a favor and listen. music.gif

I listened to the album today having never heard them before. Heat Above is a terrific song and catchy as hell. They're all good musicians but the dude's vocals are out there.. maybe a bit too extreme for mine. I imagine he is polarising to many listeners. I'll give it another spin and see if they grow on me.
