Live debuts Hold Me Up: Listen Now Options

If you compare the waveforms, the song is just slightly more compressed on the remastered (new) version of the song vs. the other, older releases. The drum hit isn't quite as dynamic since the whole song was made louder, but there's not much of a difference. TC as an album as a whole was compressed pretty bad to begin with. It would have been nice if they would have remastered it to have more dynamics, but no one does that.

But if you search for Hold Me Up, it’s on there. I’m enjoying the song and I’m really glad that offered it, although I totally freaked my dogs out when I blasted it in the car.

First heard this incredible Live song “Hold Me Up” back in 1995 when I tried unsuccessfully to put it in Mallrats. Years later, I got to include the song in Zack & Miri Make a Porno, but it still remained unreleased. Now it’s finally available on @Spotify

Agreed! And aside from that, I don't care about the exact details about what the mix could have been with some minor changes. I know that this is the version the band want us to hear and I'm totally oke with that, as I love the song and always loved it.

Wondering, anyone knows how the (demo) early version ended up on the internet in the first place?
I know the whole story with the Kevin Smith films, Mallrat having a few seconds of (the current?) early version and the road to 2008 or 2009 when it was used again but not released.

I got my download from a old Live (fan) website with all kind of unreleased tracks, long before Youtube. I couldn't believe my ears the first time I cam across gems like Don't Wait, Lifte me Up (instead of Hold me Up) and some others. I think We Deal in Dreams was titled Dealin' Dreams until 2004.

I can remember Hold Me Up/Lift Me Up was called "Spew" for a while as well.
And don't forget Deeper (which is my favorite outtake).

I still think it should have been called Spew, and I'll prolly call it that when I upload it to Google Play.

Here's hoping they give us a second disc or more of outtakes when we finally get to TDTH25.

I think one of the reasons the official release doesn't really sound all that different is because the song has been heard so many times now by those who are already familiar with it that I think unless the official release had been radically different then it wasn't going to actually seem any different.

I'm a bit disappointed in that there are only 3 "unreleased" tracks on the re-release and they're all songs I've heard before. And actually, it's technically only 2 unreleased tracks considering "We Deal In Dreams" was released on the Awake best of compilation. I just wish there were more outtakes from these sessions.

But I'm not disappointed in that since Hold Me Up was put out I started back listening to Throwing Copper for the first time in a long time. It's been reminding me why I fell in love with this band in the first place.
