Wow...Ed succeeded to mess up losing my religion… this is not a good situation for the band regarding the curfews and all.. just stick there and play! Or maybe Zak Loy is paid per song and starts to cost too much. Very bad outing…

Too bad, I was just listening to the Pretoria concert this morning and if there was a moment fans could hope it was after that long 21-22 set. And Ed was good on most of it. Only moment that was really bad was Rattlesnake's solo. Else POD gave goosebumps and some other had good renditions. So I try not to only see the negatives, but the last year showed their lazyness, but that thing is 20 years in the making, so we're used to it.

Haha yeah Losing My Religion from that Youtube video above, the moment around 1:00 was a bit weird. Ed looking like he didn’t know what was happening is quite rare For him.
Also reading from the ground is something I haven’t seen them doing before. I mean it’s not that they wrote the song on the way to this show tongue.gif

Musically, tho, I thought the song was performed quite well and far from a mess!

Yeah to say it was a mess was a bit harsh. The cover is fairly like the original. Of course Ed shares some vocal pattern with Stipe and that cover can be enjoyable, but really looking forward for Paint it black. With Loy's guitar touches, it can be a nice addition to the set.

Ed seems to be reading the lyrics to Paint it Black for pretty much the entire song. Doesn't he practise? It's meant to be a rock concert not a bad karaoke night. And he fluffed Losing My Religion. Very unprofessional and frankly embarrassing.

That said I'd love a covers album with studio versions of both those tracks.

An interview with Ed Kowalczyk

QUOTE
Ed Kowalczyk of +LIVE+ stopped by the Dakota Grizzly Backstage Video Lounge at Pointfest to chat with The Point's Jeff Burton. Jeff and Ed talk 25 years of 'Throwing Copper', how touring has changed, coming back as a band after so much time off, and more!
