I'm also going to try and be mindful of how I share any criticisms regarding the band. This doesn't mean praising everything, it means choosing the words of any criticisms with sensitivity.

I don't think you have to worry about being sensitive. At this point Live doesn't have any kids as fans that show up to message boards. We're all getting old and I think we're pretty civil. Or if not, we're just fucking around. No biggie.

But then some of us made some guesses or opinions about the band and the music, and a few shills came around only to harshly criticize. It's beyond stupid.

And well...I'd take more offense if you were to give praise the wrong way. I don't take kindly at all to people who come around here to this neck of the woods and say they're in love with Zak Loy in the band. Those sissy Loyboys can get the steel end of my boot. Loy and Live should be segregated. Hell, keep Loy in the back of the tour bus.

Hey, where's all the promotion? (let's keep all opinions on the songs on the EP aside for a sec).

I mean I understand it doesn't get the promotion a full album would get. But I've seen ... like, nothing?
Sure, they promoted the singles and EP on social media, and yes there was at least a video for the first single, but that's it.

Shouldn't they be doing radio appearences, if possible tv shows, at least a lot of radio interviews, even if it's only Ed. I'm really surprised by how the EP got out and it's like: 'oke, let's move on immediately' or get vacation or whatever. I don't think you can make a success of this EP (even if it contained very good music) without promoting the hell out of it. CCCP did a lot more after The Turn was released.

I agree with you!! I’ve been commenting until I’m blue in the face about the lack of promotion since the reunion. I don’t understand why they’ve been so lazy. An appearance on late night TV like Kimmel or Fallon would have been huge (esp right after the reunion or with the release of new music). Don’t see why that didn’t happen other than them loving down time a little too much.

They should have done something more with the velvet underground cover song. Its a good cover musically and ed sounds great, but structurally it's just an identical version. I keep wanting the song to explode in full Live glory but it doesn't go anywhere. I understand the desire to respect the original but what's the point of doing a direct cover without any real experimentation and putting your unique stamp on it? Shame.

Is that a realistic platform for them at this point? Not a dig, I just genuinely don't know if they could book a show like that even if they wanted it.

Sure it is. I truly believe they could land an appearance with Jimmy Fallon just as a musical guest (no interview on couch). He loves to give new music releases and reunited bands a plug. Off the top of my head, reunited Faith No More made an appearance with him.

Totally agree. Saturday Night Live is definitely not realistic but late night TV still is. I would imagine Kimmel or Fallon could be fans as well.

Maybe they're not ending up with a big promo push cause it's a self produced EP from a band with their own new label. When was the last time Live was actually on late night?

Africa has done pretty well for Weezer. Also sounds like the exact same song.

That's only after Weezer's sizeable fanbase banded together on social media to troll Weezer to do the cover. The news went viral before the song was even released. And it's more of an ironic/hipster song that was also recently featured on South Park, so the song was already massive. And probably a better song than Venus.
