I heard that Pat took the creative lead for one song. I’m thinking Brother is the one! guitar.gif

Really? That's what I like to hear.

Was this originally 10,000 cups?

That Siren's Call music video is set to drop any day now.

Where the hell is my unreleased track from the Live vault that I was supposed to get for signing up for Live's mailing list?

Well, brother has some elements of old Live, not terrible but not that great though. We'll see how this EP ages, maybe it gets better over time. A good producer would have made a clean sound and offered direction, which I think Live needs if they're going to put out an LP in the future. That and get rid of the sideshows Zak and Diaz and anyone else not in Live.

This is the first song I've listened to on repeat. Really liking it so far. Production needs improvement, but unlike Love Lounge and Be A Giver, Man this is the first track that sounds like a cohesive song from start to finish. The others feel really disconnected elements of different songs thrown together.

Looking forward to hearing it in concert!

No, 10,000 Cups remains a unicorn.

This is one of the Pat D songs. There are a few more which have been yet to be heard (or shall i say one hasn't been heard, and one has by some.)

Yep.

QUOTE
Patrick Dahlheimer moves a little out of the background for “Brother,” taking his distinct bass sound to the forefront for the rhythms behind both the verses and the chorus. Overall, the track picks up the speed again, and closes the original portion of the EP with aplomb.

Check the review posted earlier this week in this topic.

You had 15 seconds to memorize the link and download it from the popular app CyberDust.

One thought for those who are worried that Live is now just Ed with the rest of the guys tagging along...

My personal belief is that everyone involved is probably contributing as much or as little as they want... simply because, if the band had wanted to be super lazy, they could have easily popped out an EP or even a full-length album by taking what Ed had been recording for Solo Album #3 and re-recording the instruments, etc. It only sounds like one "existing" Ed song was reworked by the band, if I understand correctly?

So, even though it has killed me waiting this long for "just" 5 songs, if the band is working on finding their "new voice," I'm totally cool with that. Cannot wait to hear more!

Just my two cents! And I totally understand those of you who don't dig what you're hearing, etc. Everyone is different!

One other thought... I would love to hear more from those of you who really understand the production side of things. I don't know anything about that process and I'd love to hear some in-depth, educated thoughts of what a different producer "could" do with the raw tracks and how the music "could" sound, if that makes sense? Or would a different producer just be giving different "direction" in the studio? Like I said, I know nothing, and would love to learn more. Thanks!

Funny.
But that was for the Churchbox sessions as a promotion for CyberDust. I'm talking about the single track promised in exchange for accepting promotional E-mails from the official mailing list.

I would bet that Ed wants to keep all his good songs and put out album 3 when the band takes another break.

I'm no expert but giving all the instruments and vocals their own space and bringing it together in a cohesive manner takes skill, and is an art. Mic placement, type of mics and other equipment, type of room, EQ'ing, are just a few things that help make a recording hot, clean, and dynamic. These are things listeners usually find more pleasing than a muddy wall of sound. A producer would shape the sound and also usually offer direction for the songwriting.
