And honestly, if Ed did permanently wreck his voice, I’d feel for him big time. Because there are some ruthless Live “fans” out there who would bully him to no end about it. He’d never live it down.

You mean like how Ed's vocal chords needed to be surgically repaired near the turn of the century, and how several hardcore Live fans from the 90's feel the vocal performances have never been the same and often times downright sucked?

Ok, let's not turn this thread into another argument.

Yes, let’s not.

My fingers are crossed they saw my idea for next year about the on-stage seating area for fans called “The Love Lounge.” smile.gif

A keepsake bracelet or something to wear for Līve “VIP ticket holders” would be really cool to create as well.

I'd like to see something like this done for Throwing Copper - particularly the massive book that comes with it. Lots of photos, artwork, experiences of band members, recording information etc. etc.
Could do without the vinyl though - it's pretty pointless (unless it comes with nice artwork)

My wish for the next year.

Cut the non-Live musicians loose. Play longer than 60 - 90 minutes. Mix up the setlist from show to show. Play deeper cuts. Be less afraid to fail or offend, less concerned about pleasing, less concerned about coming across as "cool", less perfunctory and show more of their authentic side. Don't be afraid to mess up. Let every night on stage be different and don't play short, greatest-hits performances as an opening act, and stop repeating the same stage performance. Headline some Live shows. Release an album that sounds like the stuff they created before 1999.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you might end up disappointed.

Like Counting Crows does with their crow's nest?

I think a nice metal "shoot that fear" bracelet would be fun. And probably annoying to a lot of people here, lol, but I'd wear it.

No, I wouldn't want to put Ed's voice through that to merely satisfy a small section of fans.
In addition to the current and past vitriol from (alleged) fans right here on this message board, who appear to salivate as they inspect every move he makes, only to pounce and ridicule him?

I guess someone needs to tell Dave Grohl and the rest of Foo Fighters that they are older than Ed and that they need to simmer down on the 3+hr sets every night. Playing consecutive nights in some major cities.

Oh, and that's playing in stadiums too. Does he blow out his voice sometimes? Yes. But he brings that shit every night. Poor work ethic is one of the reasons +Live+ lost their luster.

Lets see:

Dave Grohl - 49
Nate Mendel - 49
Pat Smear - 59 omg.gif
Taylor Hawkins - 46 (the "youngster")
Chris Shiflett -47

And Live:

Ed - 47
Chad - 47
Chad - 47
Pat - 47

We make WAY to many excuses for +Live+ on this message board. I wish I could be as excited and delusional as some of you here, but I can't when I have eyes and ears, and I also see what other bands are capable of.

Voodoo Lady said earlier, "Often I wonder what Līve are scared of"

They aren't scared. I truly, 100% believe that they don't really care enough. I think that they believe this is "good enough" I bet if the pre-1999 boys were here to see this, they would shake their heads in disgust for mailing it in. They would know that they could do better.

I hope that you all dont think I'm a huge hater. I did enjoy the show I went to this year. But all the cheesiness that comes off that stage is very off putting. But thats what this tour is about I guess. As SJN1279 said earlier, the casual fans were very impressed.

I personally like 90 minute sets. When shows go 2 hours + of any band, I typically get bored.

I actually really enjoyed the 70 minute set we received this tour, but a 90-100 minute headlining set would be cool next year for Throwing Copper. I guess it depends on what type of tour, and how many bands join Live on the road.

I didn’t even know C.C. had a Crow’s Nest. But yea, the Love Lounge would be way cooler. smile.gif

I like your bracelet idea. I’d totally rock it.

What Fish said! I too, saw TGF several times, including an all acoustic show in a small venue and I was blown away every time! I want a raw, face melting, possibly imperfect headlining show in an appropriate sized venue where they cater to nobody but the long time, true fans that ARE STILL HERE!!! No more catering to the hits only casual crowd. I want a two hour, varied, mind blowing setlist every night and no rehashed speeches or moves. It's fine if they want to do all of TC but throw another hour of stuff in there that we haven't heard in awhile. 10,000 Years for god's sake! Sing about the shit that used to piss you off and still should!!! And a fanclub with VIP choices like pretty much every other band on the planet does would be nice too. Don't get me wrong, I saw them twice on this tour and enjoyed every minute but, I've seen them over 40 times and it's time for something more. Give it to us!!!!

Oh, and a show in York! Seriously. If the venues to choose from are too small, have two shows! Kick off the tour there with special packages and meet and greet opportunities at the studio with tours. I know people would come from all over for this. Even the York Fair would work for next year. Come onnn!!!

Thanks! I wouldn’t say loads of questions were answered but definitely an interesting listen. I would have never guessed the choice for the cover song. Also, did we get a new song title or did we have that one already?

Can interviewers stop asking about the reunion, for crying tears? It was three years ago and we’ve heard they met over beers a million times. Ask why all the guest drummers! Inquiring minds want to know.

I can definitely see them doing the Venus in Furs cover. I think that's going to sound pretty awesome. That's a very Live-like choice.
