That may be true, but the band struggled to draw crowds on the road, and those "hardcore" fans weren't enough to sustain the new version of Live.

Live is still trying to recover from Live 2.0, and the messy split.

if live is trying to recover from live 2.0, then Live 2.0 was trying to recover form the disaster that also preceded it. the original ed breakup was as nasty as it gets. it split the entire fan base right down the middle. they were in a tough spot crowdwise from the start. but the show i went to was off the charts

you want to blame shinn because he isnt ed. that was not fair to shinn in the least.

the turn was a great effort and easiluy better than anything ed or live or tgf put out since tdth.

but to try to say live is now trying to recover from live 2.0 is silly. ed and ccp throwing hissy fits created live 2.0 so u can blame them

LOL - the turn sucked. TGF easily blows it away!

What'd you think of the Turn? Not from a business standpoint but from a musical standpoint?

Listened to it on Amazon when it first came out, and didn't care for it at all. I remember Siren's Call being the best song, and the last track(Shinn's attempt at a ballad) being horrendous.

I didn't love TGF's album, but it was way better than The Turn.

I did love TGF, but I only liked The Turn.

I put TGF and The Turn on equal footing and both are far, far superior to anything Ed has been involved with in 20 years. CCP still suck, too, but their side projects were at least good.

As soon as Love Lounge came out, I cleansed my palate with The Turn. It's easily my favorite Live record since Birds of Pray, and only gets stronger with repeated spins. There are some great songs on there (Siren's Call, Rodgerton Dr, Way out is through, He could teach the devil tricks), and one awful one (I don't even have Till You Came Around in the playlist, and had to look up its name).

I have to agree that TGF and The Turn are on equal footing. CCP make really good music when they're given the chance to crank it to 11, which they got to do when they were unshackled from Ed.

Spot on. How we would love CCP doing what they're good at (TGF, The Turn) combined with some real effort put in lyrics and vocals by Ed. Still hold out hope some of that magic shines through some of the other new songs and that Love Lounge is for the new EP what Heaven was for BoP: a single to reach a wide audience. Time for some Like I do-ish shit!
