Seriously, can CT learn some basic solo things. It's god awful on Shit Towne, very unprofessionnal. When we talk about lazyness, great example there. Love the song and the outro could be very good if not these bad notes. Leave it to Loy CT if you can't play it.

I don’t think Taylor tried to play the original solo but more tried to improvise a bit. Ed Used to play the solo anyway, the only song he played a solo. Always liked that.

Apart from that, I’ve seen recordings of the song with a little more agression and balls sarcasm.gif , especially vocally, but nice to see it in the setlist anyway.

Agree about the angst, and I know he doesn't want to reproduce the original solo and it's not what I want, but he clearly should learn something without false notes that at least would sound like professional musicians

You know I've always had that grip about him, not getting better over time. With TGF and with Shinn, sometimes there was some sparks, but also misses. Maybe too hard on him, but so many people would like to be on a stage as them, so play sharp.

Ed is supposed to play those solos on Shit Towne

Know all that, but can't blame him on this one. Just rehearse and play something good. Ed would miss some notes too when he was doing it. Fun to watch him battle with the guitar. Less excusable for CT imo.

I have a toddler who plays toy guitar solos better than that. What is more pathetic, that solo, or their business acumen?

Can we also acknowledge that Nick is lauding the alleged unique setlist, while every single post on this board of diehards is negative, ripping the lead guitarist for not being able to play a basic solo, ripping the band for having no balls, etc? Even the best spandex wearing cheerleaders can't convince the season ticket holders that the Browns are a good team! banana.gif banana.gif banana.gif

I'm glad they switched up the setlist at least. I saw them in Irvine and they sounded good. Much better in person than in videos - been meaning to leave a full review. Chad's solo on Shit Towne though was not good...

I've noticed on social media that Zak and Ed seem to hang out a lot on the tour during off days. So does Zak and Robin, or Ed, Zak, and Robin, or Ed, Zak, Robin, and Chat T, or some other combination of those four. I rarely see Chad G or Pat hanging out with any of them outside of the concert venues. Of course social media is not a good picture of life, but I really hope that Chad G and Pat are buddies with everyone.

When Ed toured solo with the full band, he never had a fifth member of the band and Ed always played guitar. CCCP also never added a touring guitarist. There may not have been money in either camp for a fifth person, but I do wonder if the fifth guitarist and addition of Robin is Ed/Live giving their friends jobs. Ed added his brother to the payroll as a rhythm guitarist. Chad G's brother is a member of the road crew. Zak was Ed's friend from his solo days. Robin was needed at one point, but now that Chad G is healed it might be "We like Robin, let's just have him around."

With that said, they do sound good in person and I recommend seeing them.

Chad T may not have had his best day however. First half of the show he seemed preoccupied with his monitors to being tuned and microphone not working. Later he seemed to recover and enjoy himself again, although he threw the microphone from stage (which still didn't work) and thew his guitar to the ground near the end of the show before encore.

The sound was not very good in the beginning of the show but it improved. Ed vocals were too soft and drowned by the guitars (at least from where I was standing, 4th row dead center). Also Ed's monitors seemed not okay as went to speak to the sound engineer a few times. One would guess that after 45 minutes walking around the stage parroting "test one-two", that guy would have tuned it a bit better.

Patrick, on the contrary, seemed very relaxed and was more on frontstage than usual. Chad G worked his ass off from the get-go as usual. Robin is also enjoyable to watch as seems pretty relaxed on stage. Zak played it well as he was gradually moving from far in the back to front stage before taking his bonus The Distance-solo which was pretty surprising (I didn't ready all the reviews lol.gif).

All in all, a solid show I really enjoyed. Next year a big show at a decent indoor stage, I hear. Will be there!

I will say Shit Towne in Australia this year with extended guitar solo was stellar.

Well, if their sound technician was walking around for 45 minutes testing microphone packs and microphones, that leads me to believe there was some frequency interference (known as RFI) that was causing problems. RFI is a nasty beast and is magnified when in a multi-band/festival setting. It can wreak havoc through the entire set.
