It's not about angst at all, I would be suspicious if 50 yr olds were angsty. Its about depth and a focused message and exploration of the big questions. That's what separated Live from the rest.

Agreed. BUT, Live never stopped exploring those themes, they only changed the manner in which they did it. Everyone was annoyed with SFBM, but there’s a whole lot of exploration of big questions going on there. People complained about the religious themes while ignoring that such themes have been a cornerstone of Live’s music since album #1.

People who complain about it say that they didn’t “rock” enough, like that’s something that one can measure. The point is, they haven’t played that style of music in 20 years. To think that now, in 2018, they were suddenly going to revert to 1994 form is both nonsensical and short sighted.

I do agree that SFBM was thematically closer to their roots than some of the previous albums (I actually see it as a soft reboot of death of a dictionary), but it really lacked conviction and fire (something that the Turn rectified), but I stand by what I said earlier...Love Lounge is a good rocker, but it leaves nothing to the imagination. Look, some of my favourite songs are dumb and easy to dance to, but that song aint gonna keep a teenager up at night because he/she/they just heard something that changed their life... and I think that the reason we all keep comin' back here is because live at some point changed our lives...

I guess.

Technically Pearl Jam changed my life. Playing in a Pearl Jam cover band changed me from the weird guy with the guitar to the cool, sexy guy with the guitar overnight lol.

One if the reasons I think Live was so popular on their earlier albums was because the lyrics were deep, but still pretty open ended on their meaning. Ten people could listen to a song from TC and have ten different takeaways on the song meaning (all across the board) and how it impacted their life or spirituality.

The later albums lacked that, at least to me. They tried to be deep, but they were direct and left less to interpretation. I feel like Ed tried to get back to that in his solo albums with varying degrees of success, but I liked what I saw him trying to do. If he isn't exploring the deep stuff anymore then we'll see what the other 4 to 6 sings on the EP explore.

Unrelated, weren't we getting a music video to go along with Love Lounge?

The new song is catchy and I like it for what it is. It has echoes of Live's signature, like a lot of their post-TDTH work, but there's a lot of "non-signature" sound and energy.

Like others here, I long for the deeper subject matter in combination with poetic lyrics and kick-ass guitar/bass/drums. That's the magic combination. Add in a sprinkle of free-spirit, too, to really give it that Live sound.

All of their effort since TDTH has lacked these elements. Some songs have some things, others have other things - none of it has all of it. And maybe it never will. If it's been 19 years since I last heard it, and I'm still here, I guess I'll never give up hope.

If I could find any other music that compared to it, I wouldn't keep coming back here hanging on every interview or facebook or twitter post that hints at some kind of development that hints at possibly new music.

Are we allowed to wear paper bags over our heads at the venues? Everything about this 'money grab' is extremely painful to watch. It makes me almost as nacious as turning on the tv and seeing Trump's face. I hope I can wake up from this nightmare in 2 years and pretend none of this ever happened.

Lol! I’m not that humiliated by Live, yet. I’m still glad Ed is back, Love Lounge isn’t that bad, and I’m super thankful they are touring in some capacity. While I’ve never expected Throwing Copper 2.0, there are things they do/don’t do that irritate me (but nowhere near as irritating as Trump).

1. The whole reunion process was agonizingly slow.
2. It took way too long to get new music And when we did, only one song!?
3. They should have done a headlining tour last year. Not festivals. (I would not have even cared if they had headlined a 90’s nostalgia tour).
4. I think they could do a little more with social media/interact with fans more. They are just too quiet sometimes.
5. U.S. fans still have not gotten a headlining reunion tour.
6. Overall, they just seem lazy to me. I’m a fan of some 80’s hairbands who are older and seem to have more get-go & do more for the fans than Live.

Those are the top most irritating things to me. The extra drummer, I just don’t understand, oh well. Z. Loy and this extra drummer being involved with the new music doesn’t bother me at all.

How many more shows until this thing is cancelled? What an absolute disgrace. The boys obviously lost a lot of money in their investments.

I was thinking that of all the albums, it would have fit on V the best. It’s a weird song and that was a weird album.

God, after all these years and all those interviews and writing books about how the brother kicked the three older brothers in their balls, after all the plexi shit, after all the moneygrab stories, after fucking dumping a brilliant singer we receive a fucking comeback single like this.

After all the "diehards" praised Chris and those brilliant songs of his they suddenly act like it never had happened and now suddenly switch back to Ed like he suddenly switched Buddha for Jesus for ... Nothing now?

What's happening, guys? Screw the fact that the band can not write a fine song (I am not asking for a good one), they are now a fucking orchestra on stage and still can not bring anything new or at least stick to their words.

Could this be the band that had been influencing me and dozens of millions of people across the globe 20 years ago? Why the hell do t they follow what they said?

What is this fucking Muppet show about?!

I agree with all of that. They come off as extremely lazy. The reunion was a year and a half ago and they’ve released one song that CT didn’t even write the riff and Ed made the vocals in 2 tries. Additionally, they can’t relearn ONE deep track to play on tour? Give me a break. It’s insulting to all the fans who have patiently waited for them to get their sh*t together.

Yup. Sometimes I can’t believe I still stick around waiting, but I just can’t give up hope.

I really hope they read in here how we feel.
