The best part of the song is the QOTSA-esque bridge.

That's the parallel I've been drawing too. nod.gif

It sounds like Ed's solo work combined with TGF and The Turn. As I liked all of those, I also like this song.
People who want a TC/SS sound forget that EVERY Live album sounded different. So of course "Love Lounge" doesn't fit on any of the older albums. Just like "Like I Do" only fits BOP's style and "I Alone" only fits TC's style.

Give the boys some credit.

I've had a couple of listens and I guess one thing I like about it is it feels different to all the old albums i've spend the 10 years replaying.

It's not really my cup of tea though - not sure I can really find much meaning in the song / not really much to sing along to with it.

Ed's yelling voice sounds a bit strained/high too....sounds like he's not breathing deep enough & using a strained head voice for the loud bits rather than his deeper chest voice but it is the 1st comeback song, i'm sure its going to improve from here & i'm just happy my favorite band is making new music smile.gif

Everything on TGF album, minus All I Hear, is significantly better than this. I am just not a fan of Ed, lyrically or vocally, any longer.

And why would TGF end with All I Hear, when Sing is such a great closer? Yes, I'd rather talk about TGF's album that is 8 years old over this new stuff.

It amazes me that the guy who wrote, IMO, one of the best lyrics to any song:

Heard a lot of talk about this Jesus
A man of love, and a man of strength
But what a man was two thousand years ago
means nothing at all to me today

He could have been telling me about my higher self
But he only lives inside my prayer
So what he was may have been beautiful
But the pain is right now
And right here

Could have fallen so far.

Obviously a very superior song. Also 28 years ago...

That’s going to be a good one at the shows.

Now available on Spotify (Australian version). Sounds much better than the one on the RS page.

It's on repeat, now that I can hear it on Google Play. rockin.gif Can't wait to see how this sounds in concert. Looking forward to September.

Ok after listening to it many times, i like it overall, i like the chorus a lot as it is heavy, fast and melodic, i still dislike the "shoot that fear" part. I would characterize it as an Ed song with Live energy.

Leaving early Live aside, the good thing about Live is that their catalogue is so diverse which makes it special. Solara from SP for example is closer to the 90s sound but after listening to it a few times i just don't want to go back and listen again, even though it is a good song and it is in principle closer to my preferences.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Jun 20 2018, 8:57 pm) *

Main concern is Zak Loy in the writing or recording process. He's just not Live at all, and I think he might be responsible for that muffled riff in the background. Looking for ECCP, Not ZECCP

I noticed in iTunes the song is credited to Ed, Zak and Chad Taylor. How often does a touring musician get involved in songwriting? Not complaining, just asking. I actually like the song.

Car test on full blast. Yea, great song. I find myself of randomly singing the chorus. LIVE wins.
Even my Frozen soundtrack obsessed two-year-old cheered after and said “one more time”. Don’t worry I didn’t blast it too much when she was in the car nod.gif

In the social media Live and Ed facebooks, comments on youtube video are largely positive.
