not sold on that high voice over that kind of riff. The chorus will save or sink this song. Riff is also similar to some used in The Turn/Gracious Few. Good but not groundbreaking rock riff, want to here more.

I'm listening to a alot of Incubus work lately. I know that Boyd's voice got worse in the last couple of years, but he was so good for so long that it got my expectations higher for Live, also knowing the nice work Incubus's guitarist put in most of their work. Their last record(8) was not very good, hoping Live will be better.

And I agree with your interpretation of the audible lyrics. The other parts are just too muffled by Ed moving the cellphone around.

I like the sound of the song but I'm hearing pretty similar lyrics to Throwing Cheetahs. Womb, lotus, grass - I was hoping for something more standard. American rock. A song with classic lyrics that you might hear from a Mellancamp or Petty - something that you could hear playing on a variety of radio stations.

There are just to many people who won't connect to lyrics like Ed has been putting out. No songs about stuff like water, more about basic relatable things like a small town (a shit town).

I also thought the high tone of Ed's voice was unusually high. But I'm wondering if part of that is because it was playing over a phone as I know mine tends to be pitchy on speaker phone as well.

Also, not sold on the lyrics, but since it's just a snippet I will stay optimistic.

It was not playing through phone speakers, as the bass was way too much for tiny phone speakers. It looked and sounded like it was playing through a bigger speaker that was sitting on the table. I think it was connected to bigger speakers.

Also, i love the way his voice sounds and hope he sounds as good on the new tracks.

I agree. I've been as optimistic as anyone about new Live music, but at first listen I wasn't crazy about the high pitched vocals and the familiar lyrics (baby, lotus, etc.). Still optimistic but this hasn't piqued my interest yet.

I loved a lot of Ed's solo work, so I'm not an Ed Hater by any stretch of the imagination, but when I first heard the music start, I was hoping for something "different" for the lyrics than the usual womb, lotus, and water motifs.

Who knows, though... the song might ROCK once we get a full recording of the whole thing. I'm definitely excited!

It looks like they're are playing a video starring at least CG over the tv set(s), which would also explain that the sound comes from a decent audio set, not the phone.
