Got my copies. Orange TDTH, silver SS, numbered limited editions it seems.

The artwork on TDTH isn't crystal clear everywhere, but I'll be honest - I can't remember whether it's pristine on a CD or what have you. Regardless, I think it's perfectly fine for displaying on your wall. Deku mate, I'd pull the trigger and get one. You're not getting an original unless you drop like £300 or whatever, and these reissues are like £22 on Amazon. Definitely get one while the opportunity is there - and if you decide you don't like it and don't want to display it you can just keep it in storage or ship it to another Live fan.

Special pink disc vinyl edition of Secret Samadhi here. Only 500 copies available I think. And The Distance to Here has a pink edition too.

Both single LPs.

I finally had a chance to spin my new copies of Secret Samadhi and TDTH (no wall art for me!). I ordered the silver and orange, and will pick up black and pink copies of each soon.

First the sound quality:

The Distance to Here sounds like a slightly different master than the original press. It has quite a bit of low end and overall a nice warm mix. I don't think it's any better or worse than the original, but the master is a tad different. Both the original and this repress are definitely upgrades over the CD.

Secret Samadhi sounds exactly like previous copies. Very clean, but not a huge increase in quality over the CD.

In terms of packaging, Music On Vinyl was really faithful to the original vinyl releases. Even though Secret Samadhi is a double LP, it is packaged in a non-gatefold jacket, just like the original. It comes the same poster that the US promo LPs came with. The only thing that is noticeably different is the typography on the spine. Same font, but much larger text:

Stacked in the image as follows (top to bottom):

2017 Music On Vinyl version (silver vinyl)
1997 Germany pressing (black vinyl)
1997 US pressing (coke bottle green vinyl)
1997 US pressing (white vinyl)

There are a couple minor differences for The Distance to Here too. The quality of the image has been discussed here, but it is exactly the same on every version of this album ever released. Have a close look at your CDs. Those graphics have heavy aliasing there too. Anyway, the Live logo on the front of the new vinyl version is embossed and covered with heavy glossy black paint. It is a nice change from the original. The spine is completely different. Both the original LP and the new one differ from the CD for obvious space restrictions, but while the original maintained a similar layout, the new version is markedly different.

Good work!

Despite me ordering these 3 weeks befoe they came out, I am still waiting for my local Indie shop to get them in, they need to put in a bigger order. They will be there this Friday.

Needless to say if they are the black vinyl versions, I will be annoyed.

I would be very surprised if you got black. No way MOV sold through 2,000 silver copies of Secret Samadhi so far. I haven't seen black listed anywhere for sale yet, and no one has them on discogs (no listing yet). I bet it will be months yet before the black copies begin to surface

You're probably right, you can't even buy them on Amazon yet, so presumably they have not been pressed/released.

According to Amazon it's released, they're just out of stock right now. It appears their first shipment sold out on pre-order.

Amazon doesn't distinguish between the MOV color and black variants. It's always a crap-shoot if you order a MOV release from them.

They ran out of their initial stock of silver copies. I bet they actually get some more silver in before they start shipping black.

Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were referring to the the rerelease itself, not the black copies particularly.

Yeah, Amazon just gets shipments in from MOV. They'll continue getting silver vinyl until all of the first 2000 copies are all shipped out from MoV. With more esoteric albums like SS and TDTH, it'll probably be at least a month or two before Amazon get black copies in.

Mine came through this week, very pleased with it. Low-res not really an issue, there's so much going on within the artwork it's not really noticeable unless you get in real close.

I got mine too. Coloured varients, very pleased with them.

It's possible the Secret Samadhi cover was recreated from scratch, it's all outline work, any half decent designer could recreate it almost exactly from just a scan of the original. The lines are so crisp it must have been printed from vector artwork, unlike TDTH cover which has lots of raster elements.

Perhaps the Record Co sent them flattened JPGs of the original artwork, the SS poster is hi-res images, but the fonts are soft which suggests they were printed from raster files, and they decided to redraw the SS cover as it is such an easy job.

I received my Secret Samadhi and The Distance to Here vinyls yesterday. Nice lowish numbers too.
