QUOTE(Soxwsc @ Jun 9 2006, 12:34 pm) *

Does anyone know if they had a new producer helping them record this version?
Whoever produced this should definitely work with Live in the future. This is so far superior than the album version. Everything that was wrong with the original album version was tweaked to perfection, and here we have the perfect single. Everything from Ed's vocals at the beginning of the song ("My ammunitiooooon" instead of the half-hearted "my ammunition") to the clear solos in the bridge, and it just seems to have way more energy.

I honestly think that if "Songs From Black Mountain" would've had a better producer, all the tracks would've been so much more enjoyable.. they're great now but would have been perfect with someone better than Jim Wirt.

EDIT: Another question: How much input does a producer have in the final product of an album? And what exactly is the producer's job? Can't the band do it all themselves?

Doesn't this post mean you are really talking out of your ass? How can you say that SFBM would have been better without Jim Wirt, and then also say you don't know what input a producer has or what they do?

QUOTE(Hunnydusst @ Jun 9 2006, 11:08 am) *

Chris has the Metal Milita behind him with Operation Outlast Outsell. We're on a MISSION to make sure Chris has as much airplay as possible. To the extent that an internet radio station now has over 400,000 hits a month.... sometimes over 40,000 per show. She's now been approached about streaming her feed over a large station's airwaves in Chicago. I'll keep you guys posted. We play I Alone a whole lot too cause that is one of Chris's favorites. ANYWAY... my point is..... this is going to be heard, and LIVE is going to skyrocket back to their rightful place at the top of the charts. yahoo.gif

Good to have Chris' fans helping out. Which Chicago station? Q101? They do a lot of alternative and they were responsible for getting Live to Chicago at a private House of Blues performance (which I won tickets to see!).

Don't remember the station name offhand.... it's been a looooooooooong day for me. The DJ there in Chicago is Eric Z??? I think.

Grrrrrrrrrr....... I'll get ya the info in the morning. I've been up more than 24 hours. must.sleep.now. Anyone work night shifts? It sucks!!!!!!

Well, then why don't you explain it to me instead of being a jackass. Who was responsible for making this version so much better? You didn't explain anything about the recording process in your post.

I don't know the answer. But I'm not pretending like I do. I didn't mean to come off like a jackass, but there has been so much talk on this board about how Jim Wirt is the problem, but you showed in your post that at least some people have nothing to back up that assertion. How can you blame someone when you don't know what their input was or what they do?

Listened to it many times, it would do very well as a single

But what's the deal now? is it gonna be released as a single? as 2nd song of the Mystery single? I think they can never release it as a main single cause it was a download already at the live site... but so was Overcome I remember nervous.gif ... I wanna hear this song on the radio bounce.gif !!

Does Edstipe or anyone else have any idea about if/when this song is officially to be released? What about a video? This is all way too secretive.

In response to the talk about producers and whatnot, I guess I can offer up some idea. So no one thinks I am talking out of my ass, I have recorded a few CD's with bands and produced a few. This was all on a much smaller level of course, but still similar.

I think the mixing of this version of Mystery is what really makes it sound so amazing. All of the instruments are much more distinct, and have a very meaty sound. Much more meaty than the album version. All in all it is probably due to an entirely different team handling production, mixing, mastering, and everything in between. There is no clear way to tell since none of us were there, but this version is certainly more of a rock version than the old one. Maybe I can think of some other things after listening to it a few more times.

Peace out.

I think Ed's vocals have much more emotion in them...it actually sounds more like the way he sings in concert than in studio. Daughtry sounds great, too. As for the possibility of an Absent Element/Live tour, that presupposes that Chris is going to stick with the band instead of doing some sort of solo project like the Idol alumni usually do. Only time will tell.

Thanks for your insight. That's what I was thinking too, even though I don't have as much knowledge on the subject. tongue.gif

This is frustrating me as well. I was told (by someone who would know) that it was sent to radio stations as an official releae, but I've also heard that people have called up stations and have been told that they don't have the single yet. I honestly have no idea what the source of the conflicting information is.

I can say for 100% certain that a video has NOT been made for the song yet. However, I do believe a video will come in the future.

Perhaps Sony is holding out on releasing the single to radio until a video can be made to coincide with the new release? That's my best guess, although based on nothing more than conjecture.

The problem in making a video in the near future is that live is touring in europe now... And will be doing for a while

There is a whole thread on the SOY boards at how this song is extremely good feedback on any station that plays it. The problem is, it hasn't been released as a single! Whatever red tape preventing this NEEDS to be removed for both artists sake. A huge hit for Chris this early in his career can only help, and Live's new album sure as heck needs the boost. This HAS to happen!

My guess is that it is 19Entertainment, American Idol, which is holding everything up. They have a tight contractual hold on all of their Idol finalists. Those finalists cannot negotiate outside of the labels working with 19Entertainment until their contract expires. Normally those contracts run until September, and expire shortly after the American Idol Live tour is finished.
