Ed's been playing 18 song sets just fine since the break up. And yes, that includes electric sets.

True enough, that "Throwing Copper/Live in Sydney" CD is 21 songs. Not sure if it's all one set, though. His voice sounded just fine to me. guitar.gif

Speaking about mixing-up of the setlist, Pearl Jam can play three nights in a row at the same venue and mix a good third of the setlist or even a half of it each night.

With Live? Not gonna happen.

When RHCP first came to St Pete, Russia, with a gig, they did not want to play it safe. They fucking played Suck My Kiss and Soul To Squeeze. At a FEST show. Their set lasted for about 2,5 hours.

You will all receive a world tour across US + The Netherlands and a safe setlist from 10 years ago

I hope Live takes some chances and mixes things up a little. I'd love to see Hands of A Teacher, Don't Wait, even Negation or something make the rounds in their set. Start doing Love My Way again, take some risks. bounce.gif

Youre kidding me, right? Compare the mentiobed songs to UTB, Otherside or Scar Tissue.

You're saying playing Soul to Squeeze, a #1 hit, and Suck my Kiss, a #15 hit, are not safe songs to play. They're huge radio staples with iconic music videos

If they were going to go off their setlists from ten years ago minus post-Distance material, it would look something like this:

Operation Spirit
Pain Lies on the Riverside
Beauty of Grey
New Song
All Over You
Rattlesnake
Shit Towne
Mirror Song
Iris
The Dolphin's Cry
Lakini's Juice
Voodoo Lady
Run To The Water
Selling the Drama
Turn My Head
I Alone

Lightning Crashes
White Discussion

I would not object to this setlist, and I think it's honestly a realistic expectation. If I were to throw a couple 'wishlist' songs in there it would be Gas Hed and Hold Me Up, both of which were played in their '09 setlists.

I personally think that Heaven should stay in the setlist. It was a big hit and a good song.

I don't object to the post-Distance material as much as others, so I would have no qualms of Heaven and even Overcome making it into shows, but I think the band is focusing on the first four albums for the foreseeable future. And the lack of later material in the NYE set kind of supports that.

Maybe they can have a single allotted Christian song every night, and alternate between Heaven and Overcome.

The other option is to save them for Ed solo shows.

I think that's the likely answer. I think Live's pretty much going to continue doing what they were with Shinn, focus on the first four albums + new material.

Heaven is blah, just like the whole BOP album. I'd prefer they don't play it.

I'd also pass on Overcome. If they do anything off of V I'd prefer Simple Creed or Transmit Your Love.

Of course, if they go 2 hour plus show then I'd be fine with them playing any songs cause then you're getting a show!

Like I Do is the jam!
I'd love to see them play that one, but alas.

When I compare my expected setlist to my Live favorites playlist--apples and oranges. As I'm sure it is for us all.
