Since I read the interview, actually since I sensed that The Turn isn't mentioned at all anymore and since they mostly denying they liked the The Turn-era, I got a bit worried that maybe Chad (and Pat and Chad) will not hold on the the good, solid rock sound they brought with TGF and The Turn.

Since the moment I heard the first few samples of TGF until, let's say 2016, I was convinced that if CCP would play, from now on, it would be their way, their sound, the music that they love.

But now, for the first time in like seven years, I wonder if they wanted to work with Ed again so badly, that their musical taste is not the first priority anymore and looking forward to the new music that's being created, I don't know what to expect anymore from them. But maybe I'm wrong. 'Experimental' can mean very nice but also very wrong. (CT on SFBM: 'A new direction for me and my band...').

I'm happy for them finding back their friendship, but God, don't let it distroy the kick ass sound we enjoyed last few years.

I don't think you have to worry. It's pretty clear from everything that's being said that the issue with The Turn isn't in the instrumentation, but in trying to make a Live album with someone other than Ed.

In his Facebook post CT mentions how easy it was for CCP to make The Turn sound like a Live album, and in Rolling Stone Ed talks about writing music with the classic Live sound. Besides which, they are recording in Chad's studio under Chad's label.

This isn't going to be Songs from Black Mountain. At the very least, I think we can be guaranteed that CCP's going to keep doing what they've been doing. The question is whether or no Ed can blend in with that anymore.

My antenna sensed something when CS/Live cancelled shows, including a festival billing here in my city. That was a year and a half ago. When did Ed say they were taking baby steps to reconciliation in an interview? Was that about a year and a half also? If so, timeline works.

Don't know exactly. But in may 2015, they were planning a Siren's Call musicvideo. So..? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAa-ulUXgSU

One of the things I picked up from Live 2.0 was a lack of direction and promotion. Almost like a ship with out a sail. They could make music, but didn't seem to know how to promote it. The canceled shows were one sign of it (but to be honest were there even that many planned to begin with?) but also outside of this board how many people even knew there was an album? If a band releases a hard rocking album but noone hears it, does it exist?

For all his faults, Ed has been good at promotion and making sure people are aware of what he or Live are up to. Part of me thinks that the best thing about Ed back in Live is that he'll be their sail and make sure people know about new albums or tour dates, and make sure the band is on the road and not slipping further into obscurity because people have forgotten they exist. Obviously I want the music to be awesome, but I also want lots of people to hear it, and I want tour dates near my town.

While I agree that Ed is their driving force/their team captain, they've never been that great at promoting themselves. So yeah, without Ed at the helm it was really bad. Solo Ed was great at his social media--interacting with fans & letting them know what he was up to. So now that they are back together, I was hoping for the same, but they just went back to being obscure Live. Even Ed's FB page is still oddly silent. You'd think when they let the cat outta the bag, he would have picked up posting again. I'm hoping they are just really busy with something awesome (a box set!! smile.gif ) and not just Zoe.
