That's how I feel about The Distance and FTQRR.

And Sparkle, though I like the alternate version a lot more.

I'll never forget the show in Detroit on 2/27/97. They had just released SS. Live came to Detroit following an appearance on the Howard Stern show. They brought out strippers that they had just met on his show, I believe the day before, to dance on stage.

That's the Live I remember.

Saw them in NYC two days before. No strippers, but hands down the best concert I've ever seen.

They weren't stripping on stage but they did shake it for a few songs. Ed told everyone they met them on Stern, probably after your show. They were definitely having a good time for a few days.

I feel they could have taken many of the outtakes from TDTH and made a great album for V instead of what ended up on V. It kind of would have made V really TDTH 2 but it was still the same era so it would have worked. Instead V was really the beginning of the end for LIVE. Having said that I still followed every thing they did all through those years and have done great memories from that time period.

Merica, convince Jimmy to play the video on his comp, record it on his phone, and send it to you via snap chat or one of those apps where media disappears. You can see a few seconds of a the song and report back here.

Ha. I'll get right on that.

But srsly, if I recall correctly it took fucking ages to get that response from Jimmy before I even started chasing the band.

QUOTE(alexou @ Jan 11 2017, 9:15 pm) *

I agree. Maybe we put more emphasis on them because they are b-sides. I like them, but I totally understand why deeper and Still aroused are not on the album. Vine Street could have made it. Don't wait is good, but I find it misses an edge to be considered a real rocker. Still a good song. Susquehanna and mall rat on the other end, should have been included somewhere. At least we got decent versions of all these songs.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. omg.gif

Not sure why the studio version of Change never surfaced like the other b-sides from TDTH?

I know, right? I seem to recall in Chad's letter response he mentioned he was pushing hard for some of the rocker songs to make TDTH, and I think he even namedropped Change and New City specifically at that point. But neither appears on either of the demo albums for TDTH. So like... wassup with that?

Jimmy had some harsh words for Ed during the breakup. Does Jimmy forgive Ed like CCP and Bill Hynes? Is he still a fan of CCP after all this, or does he feel played? Maybe he's more willing now to let an unreleased b-side slip into the hand of the fans. Somebody do something

My fear with a New City release is that has been so hyped and so anticipated that it can never live up to what is expected, even if it is a solid song.

Oh absolutely this. But still, let's just get it over with. I don't see what the problem is with dropping some mediocre quality footage of an obscure outtake that all of 20 fuckers on this forum are gonna bother looking at anyway.

In 2001, music changed, and 90's bands and their music were mostly sent out to pasture. A Live album sounding like TDTH would have been great, but wouldn't have given Live any additional success.

With the exception of Overcome, the outtakea from TDTH are superior to anything on V, so it would've been more successful

Yeah I know when I wrote this I found it a bit weird, but I still think it misses something. It is a good rock song, but not one I would replace everything in TDTH to put in. Maybe I son't like the bridge or it misses some guitar work.

As for Jimmy, don't know the guy at all, just met him once in AC. My guess is that he simply chose to close WD because he couldn't support the reunion. I don't see him releasing New City anyway, but you can keep trying.

I think if the marketing was done right V could have been a huge success. Consider this.......

Deep Enough first single and is marketed with Fast and Furious
Forever May Not Be Long Enough second single and marketed with The Mummy Returns

All this before the album even drops!
Then release the album in July when they first released several clips of the upcoming album. Anyone remember this?

Third single to promote album release Simple Creed. Would have have been a great summer song.

Then due to tragic circumstances we would have gotten Ovecome next. LIVE would have been all over the radio in 2001!

Actual album in no particular order

Don't Wait
Change
Deeper
New City
Overcome
Deep Enough
Simple Creed
Transmit your love
Forever May Not Be Long Enough
People Like You
Flow
Hero of Love
Nobody Knows
Radiant Sea

Maybe...even the early live versions of Deep enough were really good. The keyboards were not as proeminent as the studio version and the later concert versions.
