No, but I saw him botch I Alone on their last TV performance, and also saw the Summerland show when it aired back in 2013.

Had I known this thread would become an Ed vs Chris thing, I would have refrained from writing it. There's already too much of those lying around here. I'm not taking sides. I love Ed and, frankly, the band feels right with him in it, which is normal. But I also loved The Turn and Chris. In other words, I loved the band. I was never a fan of BOP/SFBM which to me are Ed's first solo records and I'm not a fan of what he did as a solo artist. Nothing against Ed himself. Music is about feeling and his music didn't make me feel anything.

That said, all I wanted to point out is that I hope they don't pretend that The Turn era didn't exist. Not only is it wrong for fans but it would also reinforce the image of Ed's ego taking over the band. No one wants that.

Now please, can we just stop with the Ed vs Chris debates? They never goes anywhere. Ever.

"He sucks in concert."

"Have you seen him in concert?"

"No."

Thanks for playing.

IMO he was horrible. I've already posted about it before. Did I see him on video yes. In person - no.

I can also tell you the San Francisco 49ers suck. Haven't been to a game in person but I've watched them on TV. They are horrible.

I truely appreciate that he allowed Live to get back to rock and directed them away from the crap they allowed Ed to create but that doesn't mean I liked his singing or his style. I would take Kevin over him any day. I also don't expect everyone to share my opinion of him - I respect that people enjoyed what he brought to the table.

I've always said that if Ed sold shit on a stick Nick would love it. I think some people have come to the support Shinn in the same regard.

Come on Tips, that's half the fun of this message board. It would have died years ago if it wasn't for the healthy debate - especially the anti Christ, oops sorry, I mean Ed, stuff.

Would rather listen to a couple of lines botched by CS than the lyrics changed by Ed. Isn't it funny how the ones that have something negative to say about Ed have actually seen both Ed and CS play live but the ones that bag out CS and idolise Ed have never even seen CS play live?

I know it's one of your playing cards to go on about CS botching lyrics but if you had of actually seen him perform, you would realise how irrelevant it is and how much more of a dickhead it makes you look.

I've seen CS with Live, live. I honestly thought it was a terrible show. I also happened to be in the minority on that opinion. To me it seemed like the ones that thought it was such a great show were also the ones that had decided ahead of time that they would love it simply because they hated Ed so much for whatever reason and Chris "gave them their band back." I really did give the new Live a chance. Traveled a long way just to see that show and left disappointed along with two other open minded people, who never took sides, that shared my opinion. Weird, huh?

SJN sounds like my kids. This happens every time we eat at a Mexican restaurant.

"I don't like guacamole!!"

"Did you try it?"

"No."

"How do you know you don't like it?"

"I dunno. It looks yucky."

I respect this much more than a certain someone who never went to see him but continues to post like he did.

What is funny is Ed would botch lyrics to his own songs but somehow CS botching lyrics to Ed songs is grounds for being awful.

Chris was never awful.

Now when The Gracious Few covered Dolphin's Cry, that was awful. Anyone still got that video?

Gotta respect Chris but to be honest I never felt it was Live with him, for me Live is ECCP. Every time I listen to The Turn I don't feel it is Live, it's like another band that kind of sounds like Live. So, respect to Chris but he is the past now, ECCP is the future and I look forward to their next album. I just pray to God, Allah, Hare Krishna, Buddha, Manituu, Ra, Zeus and every other God there is that the next album dosen't sound anything like SFBM or BoP.

I agree. I liked The Turn, but it's not Live to me. Should have just picked a new name and called it a side project or whatever like TGF.

I wholeheartedly agree. Hearing CS sing ECCP songs was like blasphemy. I think I might have liked CS better had they went by a different name and stuck to new material only.

Should've just had The Turn under the TGF name. Two TGF albums with different singers would have been ok since they were mainly experiments anyway. That would always open the door for future albums with other artists as side projects. However, under this thinking SFBM should have just been just the first Ed solo album so we never have to associate it with the brand LIVE. wink.gif

But then CCP would not have been on Summerland or been able to get festivals or Australia gigs.
