IMHO, when you put it in context, it makes CS look more like a DB. I don't know him personally, he could be a great guy, so I'm only taking away from what I read.

He's on tour performing songs that Ed wrote, songs that mean a lot to Ed, you would think he'd show more respect for the guy. He could've taken the high road, said something along the lines of "I can't comment on that as I wasn't with the band at the time" but instead he chose to make Ed look like a terrible guy.. "For anyone to try and pull a stunt like that is desperate and shitty."

Just my 2 cents..

Keep in mind the only thing Shinn knows about Ed is how big a piece of shit he turned into. CCP obviously informed him as I'm sure The Thrill did too. You can see the old posts here. Ed got crushed daily by people who were close to the band.

I wouldn't expect Shinn to go out of his way to heap praise on Ed. For one, he was told how awful things were and how bad a guy Ed was, and two, he risks his relationship with CCP if he spends all his interviews saying how awesome Ed is.

Just another reason Shinn is top notch. He walked that fine line pretty damn good.

EDIT: In short, Shinn handled interviews pretty honestly but wasn't a jerk. He could have done a lot more damage and had the ammo and backing to do it.

If he was humble and respectful, he would have had more support. The fact that he really was a shaky performer who wasn't anywhere near CCP's level on stage, didn't help either.

And CCP being great on stage? CT stomps once for LJ and PD kinda bobs up and down in the same spot.

Other than that they are statues. CG is behind a drum kit.

This is so funny. You were the BIGGEST critic of CCP, but now since Live is reuniting you are content to take your shots at Shinn and completely ignore CCP who actually banned you from shows.

Do you think CCP perform well again because Ed is back? Could dig some stuff on that too.

CT doesn't stomp anymore and is now quiet onstage. In a show where he had to give it all in AC/TC, he was VERY quiet, like if there was something wrong. Saw him 2 other times with Shinn and he was allright.

PD resurrected a bit with Shinn fronting. He is completely insane in PLOTR, and he made the show with Shinn the 3 times I saw them.

Shinn got better with time. The 3rd time, there was around 30 000 people there and he killed it. Too short but nice setlist, Freaks was amazing and the classics were well received. I know he had issues later, sad about it. Wish him the best.

Chris was better on stage than Ed has been since 97 out of all the times I've seen them. I'll take his warts and all performance over something that comes across as choreographed and fake any day.

That aside. Man, how precious can you be? Even if these quotes aren't 100% sucking Ed'a dick, it's making a mountain out of a mole hill. If this is what you constitute as not humble and respectful etc then you must want people to walk on egg shells around you. Chris was honest and echoing the sentiments of the band. I liked it because it wasn't a glossy PR rehearsed set of answers like we got in the latest release (see the warts and all vs choreographed and fake argument again, this time off stage). So he echoed CCP's sentiments and did worship at the temple of Ed. So what?
What about Ed'a blatant disrespect to CCP? That his band is just as good if not better than them. That they are parasites sucking on the side of him? That he refused to even allude to them when talking about TC and it's songs - that they were all "my" songs and "my" album when you know it was a "we" and "our". Forget it. In either scenario this isn't a Disney world. I think Ed being disrespectful to CCP is more interesting than CS being "disrespectful" to Ed becauseunlike Ed and CS, Ed and CCP now have to work together. And all of Ed'a comments I mentioned have nothing to do with whether or not he was a thief.

QUOTE(Tips @ Dec 13 2016, 11:13 am) *
Take Tears for Fears. They split in 1990 to reunite in 2003. Roland Orzabal released two records, Elemental and Raoul and the Kings of Spain, as Tears for Fears and Tomcats Screaming Outside as Roland Orzabal. Curt Smith released several records as Mayfield and as Curt Smith. When they play live now, they play songs from the Elemental and Raoul even if Curt Smith wasn't in the band when they were record and were basically Roland Orzabal solo records. But they don't play anything from their respective solo records. That's accepting your history as it is. They're not pretending they had a 13 years hiatus during which Tears for Fears didn't exist in any shape or form.

I have to interject and call this out because it is incorrect.

Tears For Fears have performed songs from their solo albums during TFF concerts. During the 2004 Everybody Loves A Happy Ending tour, "Snow Hill" (from Curt's solo album, Aeroplane) was performed at almost every show. That tradition continued in 2005, as "Snow Hill" was performed for most of the UK tour.

The '05 Summer tour (U.S.A. west coast) saw "What Are We Fighting For?" (also from Smith's Aeroplane album) performed at select shows.

For their 2009 tour, "Seven Of Sundays" (from Curt's halfway, pleased album), was performed at every show.

As far as Roland Orzabal's material from Tomcats Screaming Outside, "Bullets For Brains" was performed during rehearsals with the intention of making its live debut during the 2009 tour, but was omitted as Orzabal felt it needed more preparation for a live setting.

I just wanted to clear that up. thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the clarification. I had a doubt about Snow Hill but I didn't know for the others though. smile.gif

They are friends of mine and I toured with them for many years, so I am a bit of an historian when it comes to the shows I was at.

As a side note:
Live's former tour manager left Live to tour manage for Tears For Fears for their Everybody Loves A Happy Ending tour and beyond. Sadly, he passed away in 2009. Because of him, I was able to become friends and work with Live -- one of my all-time favorite bands!

No, but I saw him botch I Alone on their last TV performance, and also saw the Summerland show when it aired back in 2013.

Do you mean Lightning Crashes as their last TV performance? Summerland was also one of the first lot of shows they played together you'd expect that to be bumpy. But anyways, its well known that Shinn would botch some lyrics ... people who make that out to be a big deal (the band included) are just big babies.

The show I saw in person he didn't put a foot wrong that night and the energy in the hall was palpable. People walked away from that show very happy. Its one thing to watch on TV, its another to feel the energy at a show.

Besides, if we are talking botched TV appearances, remember that time Ed botched it on Idol by, you know, appearing on Idol and playing Mystery.

Yeah Gruno rings a bell for some reason. I'm a long time fan (since I was 3 ha ha), held an unofficial website in 2004 and I'm a music geek so I love that kind of info rockin.gif

"Have you seen him in concert?"

"No."

Thanks for playing.
